  • Openrc is used by alpine and gentoo. They both work great.

Runit used by void is also fine.

If you can figure out gentoo it's not a bad OS but compiling can be slow. You'll learn a lot though. Checkout oddlama/gentoo-installer

  • Just use arch. It's a lot simpler than Ubuntu Fedora etc.

    Occasional hiccups but nothing major.

I've run gentoo and void and tbh they were fine too, but more burden knowledge wise.

Debian and Fedora were always a chore to maintain. Major updates on Fedora constantly caused down time. Debian has no software and no ports like system which makes it difficult to get software.

Arch has most things packaged, decent docs a simple packaging system etc. The community is a bit mediocre but the os is pretty simple. Also what the steam deck uses FWIW.

  • You can't, this guy doesn't know what he's taking about.

Port forward behind CGNAT won't get you out. Best bet here would be ipv6.

Tor would work. However, only over Tor obviously.

  • That was the issue i hit. I torrent in containers so that was a big deal for me.

  • Not in Linux containers, not that i could get working. If you have a working config could you please share it.

I tried for two days and gave up, it's (or was ) non conventional with some cli that did not work in an alpine container or arch. AirVpn worked immediately.

  • They claim to have port forwarding, something i learned was untrue after purchasing. They also don't offer refunds.

For torrents i recommend airvpn. For privacy i recommend Tor / Tails.

  • That's right, one should. However, I'm using this only as an internal documentation tool, There's no port forward and it's not public. I am literally using it to take notes on a few things I'm developing.

It's actually really nice being able to drop a whole bunch of links and have them threaded and linked between each other. It works quite well.

  • Yeah, without a doubt, it's just an oversight.

    There's nothing malicious here.

I should have read the docker compose a bit closer when I was trying to figure it out but There's only so many hours in the day, and sometimes you rush.

  • In not the OP but I hit the same issue.

  • Yeah this hit me as well and it was very confusing until I found that lemmy.ml

I can't find it on the main branch so I didn't raise am issue

  • Click the link, you'll see it is indeed the first heading under Criticism

  • Yeah psi is a pretty common unit and trivial to swap between if SI is needed.

Arguments like above often show a lack of real world experience.

  • Any suggestions on alternatives?

    Slack is ok but proprietary.

Element is a new and eg fractal doesn't have threading.

  • Yeah but hyprland, unlike x, is actually pleasant to use.

Not an excuse for poor behavior nonetheless, merely an observation.

  • Yeah, most pizzerias sell many sizes. Both answers are valid.

In fact, i would argue making an assumption, in this case about size, without declaring it, is in fact less reasonable.

  • One can buy weed with crypto. I can't do that with a bank card.

I guess, not everyone wants a centralised currency

  • Unfortunately, the official desktop app is essentially unusable.

Fractal is pretty good but less features.

  • I thought It was freely licenced?

  • Social Obligation.
