  • What are those bayonets affixed to?

My fellow Democrats mostly want us all disarmed. That needs to change.

  • We’ve (collectively) voted Nazis into being in charge..

If you think they’re going to let us vote them out again, I don’t know what to tell you. They for sure won’t. There’s a decent chance Trump cheated his way into office this time as it is.

The second amendment was our final check and/or balance. It seems insane to oppose it in the face of fascism.

Why would you want to be disarmed when Nazis are running the country, AND HOW IS THAT BETTER OR DIFFERENT THAN THE 2016 TOLERANCE YOU’RE REFERRING TO????

No, I don’t want violence or murder or anything else. At some point though we may want Nazis even less.

  • I mean that’s easy enough: https://gunviolencearchive.org/. #1 cause of gun death accounting for more than half of all guns deaths in the US year after year: Suicide.

  • I wish the left were as armed as the right, because armed citizens are harder to oppress.

  • It’s what finally made me stop reading the EU. Up until that point I owned and had read nearly every SWEU book.

The Vong stopped that. I’d stop consuming any Star Wars content first.

They were so fucking lame, just an obnoxious combination of “scary dogmatic aliens” and “biology based technology” tropes. Pathetic.

  • Yeah seriously. I’m not that attached to this account. I’ll celebrate whatever I want. I simply don’t want to celebrate violence but not because of some fucking hand wringing rule.

  • They shot up a Sikh temple after 9/11. These aren’t smart people.

  • If we had empathy we’d pass universal healthcare - most gun deaths are suicides, more than any other form. gunviolencearchive.org. Banning guns won’t help, those people will still want to be dead. Fewer of them may succeed, but the human misery will still be there.

And by we I mean my fellow Democrats. Republicans don’t even pretend to give a shit.

  • Most gun deaths in the US annually are suicides.

Most. As in more than 50%.

    https://gunviolencearchive.org/

Ban guns, take guns away, all those people still want to die.

    How about we fix that?

Taking guns away from the rest of us just means we’re helpless in the face of fascism and tyranny. You know, like Hong Kong? And that’s bad.

Let’s help people want to be alive.

  • Yeah because if you do, when the fascists take over you’ll se SOL.

  • well

  • I don’t advocate for reddit (I don’t like it) but /r/DGU collects news articles of Defensive Gun Use, so if you feel the need to read about people fending off robbers, murderers, and rapists, you can do so there.

  • It’s ironic to mention retributive violence while advocating against people’s rights to be armed to defend themselves.

Nobody is advocating for murder or murderers. While I dislike reddit, /r/DGU is typically very illustrative as to why it’s so important.

I hope - sincerely - to never need to defend myself or my family.

That doesn’t mean you get to disarm me so that some murderers can ignore the law and kill people anyway.

  • Once again, we need actual gun regulation in this country.

Hard disagree. We have plenty of gun regulation. Too much, in fact.

And Trump just said he wants to disarm all Trans folks, so they’re all easier to victimize because of one person. You want more of that? You know who else was in favor of gun control? That’s right.

What we need more than “actual gun regulation” is “actual universal healthcare including mental healthcare”.

You know already, I’m sure, that most gun deaths in the USA each year are from suicide. (gunviolencearchive.org)

Imagine if you gave a shit about that statistic. Now keep imagining that either or both political parties did too. (Stop laughing!) Because however hard you ban guns, all those people still want to die. Imagine fixing that, instead of worrying about whether or not honest people deserve to be able to defend themselves. (Because as it turns out, murderers don’t care about the law, google Abe Japan for an example of that.)

Gun bans won’t stop attacks like today. They’ll stop normal people from defending themselves, and that’s it.

  • Eh if they come up with a reliable way to defeat it I’d say it’s worth it.

  • Be cooler if they were.

  • A pile of blankets. Dogs are burrowing animals. They like to dig their own dens. Mine tucks herself in, thought I love to assist her.

  • I would like to add to please contact your local representative and tell them to support lawful gun ownership for honest citizens.

That’s been a big flaw of Democrats for a long time. Because we’re (as a party) so anti-gun, we’re mostly disarmed.

And as should be increasingly obvious, that’s not great.

Gun violence is mainly mental health related, which is why over half of ALL gun deaths in the country are suicides. I’d love to see either party give a shit about mental health but it’s politically easier to ban guns or tell your constituents “they’re coming for your guns!” (and they’re right.)

  • Navy SEALs seem shady AF and have for years.

  • Got my flu and Covid vaccines yesterday. My state does lots of things poorly but I am grateful that this isn’t one of them.
