  • Depends on where you are. In Australia most taxi companies have an app that works like uber. Shows you the route and a fixed price. And when a driver picks up your fare, it'll show you where they are.

  • No. But when the options are either:

    • Shitty friends who have better things to do than hearing you vent,
    • Paying $400/hr to talk to a psychologist, or
    • A free AI that not only pays attention to you, but actually remembers what you told them last week,

it's quite understandable that some people choose the one that is a privacy nightmare but keeps them sane and away from some dark thoughts.

  • I really hate how em-dashes are now being used as an AI indicator. I'm old—old enough to know how to use them—and have enjoyed the last couple decades of touch keyboards making it easy to type them.

Now i have to stop using them again because some stupid regurgitation machine starts overusing them...

  • Only because that's the available Linux distro this year (used to be Ubuntu).

    Considering the rule:

A successful entry in this category must leverage a kernel vulnerability to escalate privileges.

It's not unreasonable to say it may affect other distros.

  • AI just decided to lead humans. The decision was made by no one. THIS change was a low stakes change.

AI didn't make the change. AI made no policy changes. The logout thing was a backend bug. The only thing the AI did was hallucinate that the bug was actual policy.

That said, I agree with your sentiment regarding where the world is heading. If it weren't for pesky regulations and optics, the military would have been flying 100% AI killer drones.

  • Triple, even. Boxer: Sportsperson, container, and dog.

  • Mate in Sturt SA (The Grub's old seat) was whinging - what's the point, Libs have never lost the seat and probably never will.

Guess which electorate was the only one in SA to have flipped tonight?

  • Teufel

It's hilarious that you literally have to make a deal with the Devil for this.

  • The horse joke was a reference to the massive recall a decade ago, when they found horse meat in their balls and sausages.

Also, as a non vegan, I find the veg balls to be as good as their meat ¯\(ツ)_/¯ As long as one doesn't expect it to taste anything like meat..

  • Why yes. I want my beef checks notes beautiful. And strong.

  • Or, you know, ImageMagick...

  • The owls have been a constant source of smiles round here. This requires near-zero effort, so it's literally the least we could do to give back!

  • Ooh. Sites. I was tired and actually read it as another word that starts and ends with "s".

And the headline still made sense... "Of course he does. Him and many of his supporters."

  • the latter I do not trust.

Am I reading the article wrong? Is it not a good thing that they refused to comply with the hostile anti-encryption law?

  • OKAY, BUT WHY ARE WE SCREAMING AT EACH OTHER?

  • My impression from looking at how the likes of Temu and Shein are raking in billions is that, people are perfectly happy with cheap leas-than-mediocre slop.
