  • Or in true shit company fashion, promise to follow the rules, not follow them, then sue/petition the various bodies that they can't make money unless the rules are removed.

  • Not at all surprised. A Large, even with the DFS-style half-price offer, is £12.50 for a 13.5". And they've apparently started charging £3.50 for delivery.

Meanwhile, my local pizza place is £14 for a 18".

  • I found it was well worth ripping to flac securely using EAC (no idea what the modern setup is). As then I knew I had a perfect copy to make whatever MP3 I wanted in the future from.

Nowadays, I convert everything to V0 for portable use, but who knows what the future may hold.

  • I'm returning to car boot sales to buy cubic meters of CDs. That, and BandCamp.

  • Making the job uncomfortable won't help make the police more reasonable. It'll just drive reasonable people away, while not affecting people joining just to have power.

  • One of us, one of us! Reach out if you have any issues. The dashboards are basically one step away from the configuration, you'll probably have one sooner than you think!

Also, when you start playing with the light, check out grouping. Very swish having one button to turn all the lights in the house off.

  • And the thin pins means that with any weight (wall-wart, etc.), it starts to come out. Doubly so if it's set into thin plasterboard that already wobbles.

  • Owl in owl.

  • Lemmy honestly tends to run on the ideas of "be the change you want to see in the world" and "well volunteered". Stick a post up, see if people are interested. You could message the mods. While they don't seem to have posted for a while, there are mod actions happening still. And if you don't hear anything back, put it as a suggestion to the admins.

  • Honestly, it's because it went in early days. When ML generated art was a novelty, and people hadn't had a chance to sit down and go "wait, actually, no". And it's an absolute arsepain to replace, because you'll get 1001 prompt engineers defending slop. feddit.uk banned generative AI content to make this process easier, and still needs to sweep through and commission new art for a few communities.

  • And as someone who prefers fabric seats anyway...There are fabric seats too!

  • The worst part about privatisation is the level of "who, me?" that happens. Huge corp doing bad? Fining an entire org takes forever (if it even gets there), and every shitty cog just does their small bit of arseholery, while pretending they're not the problem. And the C-levels mostly walk away with a slap on the wrist, if any. A revolving door of executives, making small parts of the awful changes each.

  • One of the reasons I like my Sennheiser bluetooth headphones is the power on/off/recharge headset is a chirpy hampshire/oxofrdshire accent.

And the Sonys even more, as they just go "budoom" when you power them up.

  • Unfortunately, they're the only commonly-available cola with just sugar (rather than artificial sweeteners). I've done a two-pronged approach, of finding alternatives (Karma and Mate are nice), and getting ready to start making my own with a carbonate. But commonly, you'll need to buy an entire 24 pack to even approach the pricing of Coca.

What I have found is making carbonated squash often hits the spot nicely.

  • PP is basically the Strange New Worlds app for me now. Sub for a month, whenever the new SNW series is almost finished.

  • Really appreciate the run-through OP, most appreciated. It's a bit of a shame that it's let down by few small issues, like USB 2.0 (WHY?!)

  • I'm a great believer in keeping things as simple and modular as possible. Much easier to just dump files over FTP than have HA do the saving. Plus, the camera can operate like a dashcam, and save before/after the event, while that would be tricker in HA, as you'd have to run a buffer.
