  • As of January 2024 Sony has a market cap of $116.02 Billion. This makes Sony the world's 119th most valuable company by market cap.

Yeah, $14 mil is the cost of doing business for Sony, a slap on the wrist.

  • Reolink has a wifi video doorbell that works great, it has an integration with Home Assistant but also with Frigate. I use Frigate personally, since it's better at person detection and I can record directly to my server. If you don't use Frigate, you can record to an SD card that you slot into the back of the doorbell.

  • I modded a couple of million user subs, and ended up replacing all of my posts with the same text before never logging in again. Wonder if I've been removed from any of them yet.

Side note, my life has improved so much after not doing free work for reddit. The things I'd see everyday.. looking back I'd never do it again.

  • Persistent in APT isn't referring to the malware itself, but rather the threat actor. I meant that this seems like a textbook APT actor.

  • Seems like the definition of advanced persistent threat.

  • A delayed $175,000 for 50 years? Remind me to never go to Oklahoma.

  • That's just bad UX.

  • Yeah, I forgot to mention I have the 7 and the fingerprint reader is the only part of this phone that I genuinely hate.

  • The same optical fingerprint reader it seems? That's literally the only improvement I wanted, so if it has an optical fingerprint reader that's a dealbreaker for me.

  • Is there any benefit for using this as opposed to a normal standalone host?

  • I only replied with a snarky tone because you started the thread with snark in the title.

Guess it must be that they feel comfortable sharing their views here unlike in real life. I'm all for it, if that's the case. People should be able to express themselves.

  • Because the internet is a place where people from the real world come to share their thoughts? I hate to break it to you, but their presence here means they exist in the real world too. So your question could just as well be "why are there so many commies in the world"?

  • Maybe I'm the weird one here, but even in college I never had to PHYSICALLY WRITE code.

  • Sure! I have three, in different spots in different gardens. I do find them to be pretty darn accurate, especially if you calibrate them like the instructions say. I don't have anything to compare them to, but their data makes pretty graphs in home assistant and their backend.

  • Hey there, I have an Ecowitt system. I use it to tell me when to close the curtains based on sunlight, use it to tell me when to open or close the windows, and I also have some of their soil moisture sensors in my garden to tell me when to water. I plan on expanding that last one to an automatic irrigation system!

The one catch is that you'll want to lock it down on Ecowitt's site, otherwise other people can see your sensors.
