I'm curious, is there a reason why noone uses deja-dup? I use it with an external SSD on Ubuntu and (receently) Mint, where it comes pre-installed, and did not encounter Problems.
Accroding to wiki then this(fediverse) should be linked to platforms like pixelfed and mastadon too, is it? How do I see content from them or in what way are these platforms interlinked with this reddit styled one?
As this has not been answered yet: Mastodon treats lemmy-groups as users, so you can see a user @nostupidquestions@lemmy.world boosting your question on mastodon. Your profile yourself looks like any mastodon profile on mastodon. However, your post contains only the title and a link to it:
(Currently, I see no lemmy answers and boosts to your question, which I believe has to do with federation - I had to open your post by opening the link to it in mastodon, because neither this community nor your profile were "known" by my mastodon instance before).
I could now interact with your post from mastodon by replying to it, which would then show up here (usually obvious from the reply starting with tagging your username, which is how a reply on mastodon looks like).
Furthermore, you can use mastodon to post in this community by tagging the community profile (in the @nostupidquestions@lemmy.world format) in your toot. The first line of your toot is handled as the title of the lemmy post.
I have no knowledge of how federation between lemmy and pixelfed/peertube etc works, but federation between these and mastodon works pretty good - mastodon posts with pictures pretty much look like native pixelfed posts and vice versa, and peertube videos can be watched and commented easily from mastodon. The condition js that they are federated to the respective servers.
And this is the exact German headline of the original article, so I wonder why the lemmy headline is so weird. It looks like it is a phonetic transcription for English speakers.
Das finde ich schon immer noch etwas hart, hier alle Fans so über einen Kamm zu scheren. Du implizierst damit schon, dass alle RWE-Fans im Zug selbst auf Gewalt aus gewesen wären und sie den Angriff verdient hätten.
In the original template, it even says "stärkes Deutschland, stärkes Europa" which doesn't make sense at all
On another note: I have to admit that the second person imperative form you critizise here - "stärke Deutschland!" - reminds me of Nazi era propaganda posters in a certain way (like "Fasse dich kurz" for short conversations on public phones - to mention one of the more harmless ones), I don't really like it. But maybe that is just my association.
Hans-Christian Limmer was an owner (previously founder of Backwerk), but he was bought out after he participated in the right extremist meeting in Potsdam last year, which is not ideal but I would consiser it a thing of the past. Or do you refer to anything else?
There are a lot of different traditions depending on the region, my experience is from the surrounding of the one and only capital of German carnival: Cologne. I would say it mostly consists of three parts:
traditional events in larger halls, consisting of a mixture of music and dance groups and satirical/funny speeches in dialect. This usually starts with the beginning of the "Session" on 11 nov and ends Veilchendienstag (mardi gras), with most events being in the new year.
the parades from Weiberfastnacht (fat thursday) until the day before Aschermittwoch. In my region, every little village/town/district (or as we call it "Veedel") has its own parade, visited also by many people from the neighboring villages. Groups usually either make music or throw sweets (called "Kamelle" in this context - with a short and intonated first "e", don't confuse it with "Kamele" with a long first "e", meaning camels). This is where I got my Schogetten.
partying in the streets, in pubs or clubs. Mainly on 11 November and between fat thursday and mardi gras.
On the evening of mardi gras, the "Nubbel" is burned at many events - a paper figure, often displayed on pubs during the main days, and he is held responsible for every bad thing happening during carnival (e.g. if you spent all your money, kissed another person, drank too much).
I tend to stay in the suburb where I grew up and rarely go to central cologne during the main days, because it is overly crowded and many tourists and adolescents drink too much. Drinking Kölsch is a large part of carnival, but you shouldn't exaggerate it, of course :) in my suburb, I meet people where I went to school or did sports or other hobbies with in my youth. This really is one thing I look forward to every year.
I hope this helps, let me know if you would like anything else to know :)
Nordsee is part of a Luxemburgian Holding belonging to Theo Müller, who expressed an affinity to the right wing AfD. I personally would not support them.
I agree with most others, manual is useful to know in case you have to drive one. It will surely become less and less important with electrification of cars, but until then, knowing to drive manual might come in handy for you.
Thanks for your feedback, maybe I should look into switching
