  • No.

  • Probably, but I don't care enough to look them up.

Factoids aren't my special interest any more since I became disabled.

  • Good citation. That guy is a genius.

He's also taking enough gabbapentin to stun a horse so his memory isn't super great.

    Good cook though.

  • "Consulatant": "Hey guys here's a way to lay claim to government land taken from the natives. Just plant a bunch of crabapple seeds like I did and you can claim to be "working the land", too."

I'm not buying any good intentions here, sorry.

  • Useful idiot or not, the fact is, according to The Technician at least, he was a successful businessman, so somebody is wrong here.

I'm too old and cynical to believe that it wasn't a scam, ND or not, and that doesn't absolve him from complicity.

  • Dude, who knows where I saw it but Honest Opinion says he's a useful idiot and you're saying he's a successful businessman who bought land, completely ignoring the whole homestead laws of the day.

I'm too old and cynical to buy "he was a good person" in the US during that time frame. Sorry, not gonna happen.

  • Correct, it was a land grab scam based on the laws of the time.

IIRC, if he planted trees it was then his land because he was using it, so he could then sell it for actual money. This was after the military had killed or chased out the natives who lived on it, of course.

  • Oh noooo, that thing we warned people about when it came out is being misused in exactly the way we warned people it would be misused.

    Oh nooooo.

I'm tired grandpa. Too damn many stupid people in this world.

  • And those 17% couldn't find Canada on a map if their lives depended on it.

  • He could do so much good, but instead he's selling off California and its people to enrich himself.

    So a typical Dem?

It's the Capitalist way, man. And California is nothing if not the most effective Capitalist state in the union.

  • Point taken. I'll work with my marketing and publishing team to come up with something.

    Sorry for the inconvenience.

  • Silicon Valley has dozens of them. Take your pick.

He's no worse than anyone else in the Dem party.

  • They are trying. Dems will be Dems, though.

The Peace and Freedom Party is running a bunch of actual Socialist candidates.

  • What is this Center you speak of?

Liberals are Capitalists. They are never left of Center.

    Actual Leftism/Socialism starts with anti-Capitalism.

Dems are currently the most Right wing they've ever been in the US and were at best moderately Right wing back before Reagan. I recall the conundrum wealthy Dems had when their stock portfolios made them more money under Reagan and they choose to take the profits and shut up about it.

A Progressive Dem is still a Capitalist and not a Socialist so not really Progressive at all.

    Repression with Pride Rainbow Pins.

This wasn't aimed at you specifically, Kim, I just take issue with this "Liberals are Centrists" silliness.

    Sorry for the rant.
