  • HateAid ist kein Lobbyverband?

    Guter Punkt. Letztlich ist der wirtschaftliche Anreiz für diese Verbände, das Einsammeln von Spenden. Das sichert den eigenen Job für die Mitarbeiter und sorgt für die nächste Gehaltserhöhung.

    Ich glaube aber nicht, dass du hier recht hast.

    Entmündigung findet durch die Politik statt welche Ihre Ziele komplett am BIP ausrichtet und sich die Gesetze mehr von Interessenverbänden als von Experten diktieren lässt.

    Bei vielen Digitalsachen geht die Politik völlig gegen das BIP (siehe Draghi-Report). Beim Thema KI sieht man das sehr deutlich. Natürlich hat sich hier die Urheberlobby stark gegen die Interessen der Allgemeinheit durchgesetzt. Aber ich glaube nicht, dass die Leute, die hier auf Lemmy das Urheberrecht feiern, alle bezahlt sind. Und bei vielen Regeln erkenne ich überhaupt nicht, dass irgendwer davon profitiert, außer vielleicht die Compliance-Branche.

    Gerade auf Lemmy sehe ich viele Leute, die Regeln feiern, ohne Ahnung zu haben, was es bedeutet. In jedem Fall werden Gesetzte durchgesetzt. Das heißt nun mal Überwachung. Ich sehe hier aber nur Forderungen nach mehr Durchsetzung und weniger Ausnahmen. Diese Posts kommen nicht von finsteren Lobbyisten, denke ich.

  • Hier geht's um die Daten von Donald Trump, nach DSGVO. Noyb hat Druck gemacht, dass Google & die KI den Datenschutz in der EU einhalten. Auch wenn die DSGVO bei solchen inner-USA-Sachen nicht anzuwenden ist, ist es doch trotzdem toll, wenn Grundrechte geschützt werden, oder?

    Die pöhse Techlobby will sowas nicht. Überwachung kostet Geld und vergrault Kunden. Whittaker hat hier dieselben wirtschaftlichen Interessen wie Zuckerberg.

    Aber wenn hier Zuckerberg reden würde, dann würde man ihn wahrscheinlich verdammen, dass er Profit über Datenschutz stellt. Wenn Organisationen wie "HateAid" mehr Überwachung und Zensur fordern, dann wird das wohlwollend unterstützt. Da muss man als Wähler auch Verantwortung übernehmen und im Zweifelsfall nachfragen, was denn mit so vagen Begriffen wie "Grundrechte schützen" gemeint ist.

    Solche Fehlübersetzungen sind Teil des Problems.

    Bei uns heißt Datenschutz, dass Daten nur nach Gesetz verarbeitet werden, bzw mit Zustimmung derer, auf die sich die Daten beziehen.

    Wenn Fotos von Personen ohne deren Zustimmung verteilt werden, dann ist das ein Datenschutzverstoß. Das Aufbrechen der Verschlüsselung und Analysieren der Daten per Gesetz ist völlig datenschutzkonform. Das Auffinden und Löschen der verbotenen Fotos ist Durchsetzung des Datenschutzes.

    Datenschutz durchsetzen wird hier doch sonst immer gefordert. Immer fest druff uff die bösen Techkonzerne.

  • Wenn hier von "Kindern" die Rede ist, dann sind Minderjährige gemeint. Alle unter 18.

    Wenn Minderjährige sich auf OnlyFans tricksen, um ihr Taschengeld aufzubessern, ist das auch "CSAM". Hat's schon gegeben. Soll heißen, wer sowas teilt, weiß das in den seltensten Fällen.

    Aber sicherlich wird das Meiste über Kanäle geteilt, wo es erst gar keine Identitätsprüfung gibt, zB Whatsapp-Gruppen an Schulen. Dementsprechend ist es schon jetzt so, dass die meisten Verdächtigen selbst minderjährig sind.

    The actual definition is even wider, though. I don't see who you get out of that.

  • Wenn man sieht, wie viele Leute hier und anderswo auf die EU hoffen, dann sieht man auch, wie tief das europäische Problem mit der Digitalpolitik ist. Menschen, die eigentlich in der Lage sein sollten sich positiv einzubringen, sind schlicht fehlinformiert über die Gesetzeslage. Sie wissen nicht einmal grundsätzlich, was man von den Gesetzen erwarten kann.

    Was kann man machen?

    Hier 2 Beispiele, wie es in real existierenden Gesetzen aussieht.

    Nachverfolgbarkeit von Unternehmern

    (1) Anbieter von Online-Plattformen, die Verbrauchern den Abschluss von Fernabsatzverträgen mit Unternehmern ermöglichen, stellen sicher, dass Unternehmer diese Online-Plattformen nur dann benutzen können, um bei Verbrauchern in der Union für ihre Produkte oder Dienstleistungen zu werben und ihnen diese anzubieten, wenn sie vor der Benutzung ihrer Dienste zu diesen Zwecken folgende Informationen erhalten haben, soweit dies auf den Unternehmer zutrifft:

    Number crunching isn't an obvious LLM use case, though. Depending on the task, having it create code to crunch the numbers, or a step-by-step tutorial on how to derive the formula, would be my preference.

    All the notable socialist states, Soviet Russia, Red China, Cuba, arose out of a "2nd amendment solution to tyranny", as might be said in the US.

    The term "socialist" can be used in a much broader sense, but then the meaning is really unclear. I mean, you could call the US a socialist state. The left-wing revolutionaries, who founded it, claimed that all are born equal and fought a war to expropriate the rightfully inherited rights of the king. They even created a constitution to promote the general Welfare without even mentioning the protection of property.

  • The original left/right distinction dates back to the French Revolution. During a brief episode, supporters of the monarchy found themselves sitting on the right and opponents (republicans and anarchists) on the left.

    Later, the term conservatism was applied to the ideas of Edmund Burke, who defended a kind of constitutional monarchy.

    In that sense, the US founding fathers were radical left-wing revolutionaries. However, that happened a bit before the French Revolution, so the term is anachronistic.

    WW1 broke the power of monarchies in much of Europe. Fascism rose in the interwar period between WW1 and WW2 as a kind of Ersatz-Monarchy. The fascist leader did not present himself as the true heir to the throne, but as a man of the people. He did not claim his position "by the grace of god", but might invoke "providence". As such, a stout monarchist might genuinely call fascism left-wing. They would also think the US Republicans are left-wing extremists; at least insofar as the Republicans are republican.

    Since fascism is in many ways similar to the more authoritarian versions of monarchism, fascist leaders gained the support of old monarchists. There weren't many of those around, but they still controlled key positions in government and industry. You were not a high military office, government official, or plain rich, if you had not kowtowed to the king.

    Because of all the overt similarities in ideology, demographic support, and policy, fascism has always been considered a right wing ideology by any normal observer.

    Originally, these were western supporters of soviet/russian imperialism. Soviet imperialism was very much a seamless continuation of tsarist imperialism.

    After WW2, Soviet Russia had military control of much of Europe. They installed authoritarian governments that were under their control, but of course there were occasional reform movements, notably in Hungary 1956 or Czechoslovakia 1968. Russia crushed these "revolts" with overwhelming military force. They sent in the tanks, and so those who favored military aggression were called "tankies".

    Note: These were regular wars between countries by any definition.

  • The Fediverse is fine as it is. But some people hope that it is the future of social media which isn't likely at all.

    The Fediverse is called decentralized because no one instance has a majority of users. But the only way to make sure that this state continues is if the most popular instances close registration for new users. That's an easy choice to make for the volunteers running instances. More users mean more expense and more work. That's what I mean by choices. A growth-oriented company would not do that.

    I don't see what's so special about being able to make new accounts. You can do that anywhere. What you can't do is take your followers, communities, or posting history with you. For many people, that is not acceptable, and not just influencers, for whom their accounts are their business capital. That's a big part of what enables social media monopolies.

    I don't see how the Fediverse solves any of the problems with social media. The hobbyist driven Fediverse isn't going to take off. Any professional, growth-oriented instance would have all the familiar problems.
