  • That is a matter of opinion ofc... When it comes to mod development, they are by far, the best company I have ever seen. I even had the chance to talk with some of the game developers, when I was modding 2 of their games, and hey were very very willing to engage with the community. One of the games I modded was XCOM2, and they practically gave you EVERYTHING. You could almost compile the whole game on your own, such was the extent of the tools they provided (which was built over UDK 3). And when compared to other companies like Bethesda, they are light-years ahead.

What is in your opinion, specifically that makes them a company with "shitty development"? Care to elaborate? For someone with so much certainty about the topic, surely you most know how the games are developed and how the development tools work. Eager to engage in this discussion, in great detail!

  • I would not categorize this at slop though. An besides, there is no way that was AI slop only, most likely there was some post done in Photoshop or some other graphics editing tool. Digital artists also to some extent benefit from using digital tools that artists didn't enjoyed some 40 years ago, most noticeably, UNDO. When I was in college (late 90's), my teachers (and most specifically my drawing teacher) often would criticize me for preferring to finish my illustrations with tools like Photoshop, and on some instances, they even downgraded my grade, only because they thought that a digital illustration (not AI) was less valuable than a "watercolor or some traditional media".

As an artist and designer myself I also feel dismayed by the rise of generative AI, but because for me art is more performative than anything else, I really thing that categorizing this as "slop", is a stretch.

  • Right, this is why I'm always very skeptical about these claims, because I've seen people making claims, that are not general, and certainly not applied to everyone. I myself, have seen that happen. My top 3 hypothesis are:

    • There is an AI moderation happening, that most likely is targeting, not specific words, but rather specific manners of writing. I believe this is to prevent the huge amounts of bots that are constantly targeting the comment section, sometimes with scams, and have on several occasions become a very problematic issue. They still are, but it seems they come in waves... Like, imagine a new bot comes along, writes sentences on a specific pattern, and until that pattern is added to the AI moderation thing, they persist. Once they train the AI to pick up those new bots patterns of writing, the bots then poof, and in the process, may also target non-bots. For example, lately, one of the patterns of the new wave of bots is that they always end the post with 2 emojis. So it is feasible that the AI tool has learned that whoever uses 2 consecutive emojis, is a bot.
    • The YouTube comment section (and even YouTube as a whole), has been plagued with bugs, and it is a very old site, which is inheriting old code, and the web has dramatically changed in the last decade or so. So they are only doing patches over the code, and that is not always the best. There comes a point where it's better if you just ditch the old code, and start something "newer"
    • YouTube relies on cloud services, all around the world, so there is a chance that the platform prioritizes syncing more important data, such has views, likes, and things that more directly apply to the monetization of the channel, which is a very tiny amount of data, when compared with all the comments. So it is plausible, that some comments are either being dropped to "save" bandwidth and data transfer, or synced at a later time, because they aren't relevant for YouTube's business model, which is, sell advertisement.
  • My parents already lived through a dictatorship, and I know the struggles that came along with it, including a post-colonial war and being subject to a thought police, that persecuted and prosecuted anyone, just for owning specific books, many of which were not even political. So while I have not lived through it, my parents did, much worse than you, and I was raised in a post-dictatorship regime completely aware of what the previous generation had to go through, thank you very much!

And has the old saying goes... "Those who forget history, are doomed to repeat itself", and considering you are on the second Trump term, just after a 4 year hiatus, you guys must have the memory of a gold fish.

PS - I had a much longer and extensive post originally, but quite honestly, I do not want to enter a debate about this. But what you guys need is though love. In fact I believe that the only way that the US can escape the current political paradigm, is if you go full dictatorship, live under it for a few decades, and finally have a revolution. You are constantly on a situation where you move 1 step ahead, and 2 backwards, shifting between Democrats and Republicans, and with neither having the will to make a meaningful change to the system. I could say much much much more, but I wont, if only because, I no longer have the bandwidth for US politics, as I have already stated!

    Good luck!

  • The article is not saying he's "stealing" it, so no, it is not fake news. You seam to have poor cognitive abilities, I hope that your deficiency gets better! Sending my thoughts and prayers to you!

  • Oh well, no more peanut butter for me, I guess. SAD!

  • It's the same shit, when they use "The Gays". Like when Trump said back in the 2016 campaign, "I love the gays!". I have ever since, frequently used The Gays™, when I'm making self deprecating jokes. Or when I talk about natural disasters like hurricanes, earthquakes or floods. Somehow, The Gays™, have tremendous powers, and they can, single-handedly, provoke all those cataclysmic events! "The Jews" can keep their space lasers and wildfires, I guess!

  • Considering it's Germany, bacon is probably more appropriated. They're experts in using fumes to cure meat. (sarcasm, obviously)

  • I used to watch "Late shows" on YouTube, but after the 2nd time Trump got elected, I stopped consuming any political content from the US, and again after the "Liberation Day", I stopped consuming any US produced media (including YouTube content creators). I just can't deal with so much "Trump content", nor do I want to keep to, in any manner, help content that thrives on that.

I just can't deal with a second season of "The House of Trump".

I'm not implying that this is why it got cancelled, just expressing the reason to why I even stopped watching it, on YouTube. Can't say if others have done the same or not, but following American politics is... exhausting.

  • I don't think this is idealizing him, and I certainly don't, but compared to Trump he's still miles ahead, when you make a "generic" assessment. And the post is still making (most likely) an accurate statement. Obama doesn't strike me as being a womanizer or a pedophile.

  • I'll never forget that one congressman that asked if a woman could swallow one of those pill cameras used to diagnose problems with the digestive system, if that pill could come out from a woman's vagina instead. I think that's the dumbest shit I ever heard a US congressman say.

  • It's a trend that is over a decade now, anyone denying it is obviously not paying enough attention

  • I'm always skeptical about these "YouTube is censoring X word in comments". Can you please post the link to the video? And have you also tried to change the SORT_BY from TOP COMMENTS to NEWEST FIRST? YouTube will in a somewhat random manner, just "hide" some comments, for whatever dumb reason, from the TOP COMMENTS, but show all if you pick NEWEST FIRST.
