Honestly, still totally uninterested. I mean, Marathon was so much their golden child that they couldn't even keep it out of their unrelated projects. The fact that they could now stick the name onto this shows that the Bungie that made the games I loved is functionally dead.
For anyone curious, I looked into the DDOSing, and what was done is a simple string of JavaScript was added to archive[.]today that made a background request to the blog with a randomly generated search parameter. Every time someone looked at an archive, they unknowingly sent a request to the blog under attack.
While I agree about how shit OpenAI is, these are models that could only realistically be utilized by large, for-profit companies like Google and such, and... TBH I'd kinda rather they not get the chance.
How does utilizing and profiting from a service known to promote and profit extremist ideology aid that service in the promotion thereof? By taking a portion of the profits, you direct traffic and money to the service, which is then directed to extremists. Seems pretty clearcut to me.
You do realize you're responding to a post on a lemmy instance, right? In fact, you're kinda talking like you think piefed is a singular centralized social network.
Lol, no. That was not objective. And on top of that, I was not taking the position you're generalizing here.

They demonized all actions of Valve, for the sake of defending Epic, even to the point of painting something that aids Linux adoption across the board as if it were a secretive, locked-down part of Steam's environment. I pointed out the failure in that. Yeah, totally the same. 🙄
