Oh hi there person who I've upset by expressing my opinion who is now wanting to go back through my post history to find something to use against me! If you're reading this, it's because you've already lost the argument :)

  • It’s not just opening stuff to the internet, it’s opening stuff to the internet without any authentication in this case. If you don’t know how that’s bad…….

  • Just hire the best person for the job, no matter what colour skin they have or what sex they are. Anything other than that will always be racist and/or sexist.

  • RIP Windows? Lol no, the tests all showed that at best Linux might get a few percent better performance if you have an AMD GPU, which virtually no one does, and at worst your games run significantly worse than on Windows, especially if you use any raytracing or run above 1080p, and you can’t play most of the big online MP games.

  • Which other self hosted communities are there on the fediverse with any real number of users? None. Lemmy being decentralized doesn’t solve the problem of dictators mods, just like saying “just make a new sub and move there” on reddit doesn’t work.

  • You’re not going to be able to do much self hosting with 1GB of ram.

  • Lemmy apps already have karma systems.

  • Lemmy started off over moderated and has only gotten worse. Moderation here is honestly worse than Reddit already, since we can see the ridiculous comment removals and bans and their reasons.

  • Why? Why would you remove a post that some people deem “low effort”? People can just ignore the posts if they think it’s low effort.

More censorship and gate keeping has never been an good option.

  • So it’s exactly the same moderation as Reddit and Lemmy then, complete with all the power hungry mod bullshit.

  • Ok so your original statement that I quoted is just 100% a lie lol. Off to a great start.

  • I see someone doesn’t understand what GitHub is lol

  • Instances cannot block a user

You’ll find very little support here then haha.

  • Did you check the server logs? Should be able to see pretty quickly what it was doing.

  • Plexamp also lets you stream it outside your network and share it with friends, no vpn etc needed.

  • I don’t know why so many people think you have to do one or the other, that you can’t host your own and use spotify.

No matter how much you might hate Spotify from an ideological point of view, you cannot deny its amazing music discovery ability.

I use Spotify as a way to find what to add to my collection, which I then stream using Plexamp when it makes more sense than just using Spotify - which isn’t very often tbh, only really when license issues prevent an album being in my country on Spotify. I can share my plex music library with friends and family though.

  • Anyone buying those 40-50kwh batteries for $5k and expecting them to actually get installed and not be absolutely crap fakes, well I’ve got a bridge to sell you. Both those deals are dodgy as fuck mate lol.

Prices haven’t come down for batteries or solar, not the actual price to consumers. A Tesla solar wall costs more today than they did when they first came out. Cost to produce is not the same as price to customers.

You’re kidding if you think battery prices are going to hit dirt cheap when the entire country literally depends on them because our stupid government are corrupt and incompetent.

  • Cool, so you’re not off grid. That last 10% is the hardest part, the most expensive part. The part that stops people from ever being able to be off grid.

The price of solar panels and batteries will only go up as we stupidly base our entire grid, life, and economy around them, especially since we aren’t manufacturing them here.

The government will absolutely make it mandatory to be connected to the grid because that’s the only way their desired grid will function.
