There are several women just in this thread telling you that being objectified while trying to compete in a sport is a problem. No one is saying that people can't dress sexy when they want to, we're saying it's a problem when it's forced on us and expected of us to comply
There are downsides. Not all women are beautiful, and quite a lot of us lose our beauty as we age. I can tell you first hand that aging has resulted in a significant change in how people treat me, and that alone is enough to cause social anxiety
Also, the expectation that we be beautiful or maintain our figures is oppressive as fuck. Think about how hard life is just trying to work and pay bills, then add the time and financial cost for beauty routines and gym. Some people get around that by making those two things their hobbies, but that isn't gong to work for most people
I've never done that personally, but if you're painting with acrylic and want to minimize the appearance of brush strokes then it can be done. I'd never do that with oil paint.
I agree that it's annoying that people assume someone's gender, but we also have to give people some grace. Most humans fit into one of two boxes, and the other boxes are on a shelf that is slightly out of reach and easily forgotten
I might be lucky in this, but people usually get the idea that I'm not cis if I ask for their pronouns while we're in the introductory phase
Weirdly, after I had covid cilantro tasted like perfume and I couldn't stand it. I was very worried that it would forever be a ruined flavor, because it does definitely overpower food. Thankfully it's gone back to normal lol
It hasn't been updated, let alone the dev hasn't been online, for over a year and a half. Mind you the dev is still taking subscription payments for an app that is rather broken at this point. Most of the other apps don't require payments and don't have ads. It'll fully be broken when Lemmy 1.0 releases. Compare that to any number of Lemmy apps that have been continuously updated without ads or subscriptions.
What features you like in an app will be your own! But, I'm on android and have been very happy with Voyager. The dev is responsive, and it's one of the handful I know that now also work with piefed.
Guns are expensive, bullets are expensive, training with bullets enough to know you won't miss a moving ice bucket is expensive.
Dealing with the subsequent court case, even if the shooter was legally in the right, would also be expensive. That's if they survive shooting at "law enforcement", of course
Edited to remove quote, because they were banned
Wow, sexist, racist and Islamophobic all at once.
