  • She was being dismissive because they were extremely unprofessional. That doesn't mean they will lose in the end. But they failed to show that this is an emergency.

  • When you ask for a TRO, you are asking for temporary measures due to an emergency. They aren't your last word, you are expected to follow up later with your full argument.

This is equivalent to asking your teacher for an extension three weeks after the assignment was due. A complete fail.

  • She said she was too busy to sanction the lawyer who wasted her time. Not too busy to enforce the law.

  • "We have bigger things to deal with" is not why the judge ruled as she did.

"We have bigger things to deal with" is why she decided not to punish the lawyer who waited three weeks to ask for a TRO.

  • The judge hasn't yet decided whether the actions are illegal. If they are, then they will ultimately be put to a stop.

But for now, the question at hand is whether there is an emergency. That is a completely separate from whether the actions are illegal.

And if you wait three weeks to declare an emergency, then it's not an emergency.

  • You can get much better rates if you are willing to lock your savings in for at least few months. Short term treasury bonds are 4-5% right now.

  • I don't care if companies speculate or if they make a profit.

  • Nonsense. Most people who boycott products aren't posting about it on the internet.

And I don't know why you assume that opposing one company means you have to oppose others. People are allowed to oppose PayPal but not give a crap about eating meat.

  • I do, but they don't own Coke. And my tap water comes from my tap.

  • I can easily avoid every company owned by PayPal.

  • Inaccurate title.

Neither the headline nor the article say Schumer is avoiding a fight.

  • It's cringey to say you "love" any nation, because they will never care for your wellbeing

That's not really her argument, which is that you cannot have any emotional relationship with a country.

But even your version is flawed. She lives in Australia and hates what happens to Gazans but is not impacted by what happens to Ukrainians and Uyghurs?

  • Apropos nothing, qualified immunity is what prevents you and me from suing Trump or Musk for millions of dollars. Without it, they could be found personally liable for any damage they cause.

But qualified immunity is not guaranteed. It can be stripped if a judge finds an official knowingly broke the law. For example, after defying a court order.

Also, did you know that you can sue people in state court? And if you win and the defendant won't pay, the state AG can simply give you the title to their real estate?

Food for thought to people living in NY or California...

  • On the one hand she argues that it's not true that she loves Russia, in fact one can't even have emotions like love towards a country:

It’s impossible to have a real personal emotional relationship with any nation ... You’re not loving the actual country, you’re loving a small mental representation of it that you have constructed inside your head.

On the other hand, her entire blog is aimed at provoking emotional reactions against the US, which she admits she hates:

I hate what they love so they assume I must love what they hate.

Are countries simply mental representations or are they valid objects of repulsion and hatred? It depends on the country, comrade! Russia exists only in your mind, so your feelings about Russia are invalid. But the US is an actual twisted abomination!

  • [China] simply do the normal thing while we do the freakish thing: they make the lives of their citizens better and better and avoid unnecessary wars, while western governments make the lives of their citizens worse

  • I have nothing against Russia, China or Iran, but I also have no personal emotional relationship with them.

[Trump] makes the US empire much more transparent and unhidden. He removes its mask and reveals the twisted face beneath it.

Typical tankie. No "emotional relationship with Russia", but the US on the other hand...

  • next election, go vote Democratic

Next election is not so far away. There will be two special elections in Florida this April, and then likely another in NY. Granted they are all in districts that lean Republican, but in theory Jeffries could become Speaker by the end of the year.

  • It's an open standard now, it doesn't really matter that Tesla was the first. So it's a good thing, kind of like iPhones switching to "Android charging cables".

  • As if leftists care what happens to Palestinians lmao.
