That one Israeli on the Threadiverse. No, sending me death threats won't change my mind, try arguments instead

Hello! That's my main mbin account, my alt is @Fitik, I also have a furry/personal account at @fitik

I'm just a regular person from Israel🇮🇱, a queer, and a #Fediverse enthusiast! I'm a liberal

I don't post much stuff, but when I do I usually post about #tech because I've mostly given up on trying to argue politics on there

  • Ah yes, because antisemitism clearly didn't exist before Israel was a country

Also the antisemitism is one of the main reasons Israel exists in the first place

  • This is a full announcement, sounds like they're going on a full Twitter way

The original post has 1.5k likes and 2k replies so obv not everyone are happy about Twitter alternative just turning into Twitter

  • It's very unique because only 0.05% of browsers have Hebrew as a prefered language(according to the second site), oh well, I guess it's a problem for all semi-small language users

  • Maybe if those countries wouldn't attack Israel, there wouldn't be a need for Israel to do it, Jordan and Egypt have peace with Israel, and there was no war between them and Israel since

  • There's an explanation from a different source talking about the same story:

Hungary has lost one billion euros in European Union funds that were frozen over corruption concerns, marking the first time Brussels has enforced such a penalty.

In 2022, Brussels began "conditionality" proceedings against Hungary, seeking to block disbursements because of alleged infringements linked to public procurement as well as a lack of control and transparency.

Budapest did undertake reforms that allowed some funds to be unblocked, but a total of €19 billion remain frozen.

Under timelines laid out in the EU's conditionality regulation, "the first tranche of suspended commitments" – which amounted to €1.04 billion – expired at the end of 2024 without the suspension being lifted, the commission said this week.

This means Hungary has now lost that funding

  • I think the closest thing on the Fedi to what you're looking for is #Mitra , it's Fedi software supporting payments and subscriptions, you can check it out. There's a list of instances on FediDB.

Content subscription service. Subscriptions provide a way to receive monthly payments from subscribers and to publish private content made exclusively for them.

Supported payment methods: Monero, a peer to peer digital cash system where transactions are private by default.

  • I'm not sure if the 13k number is accurate, because if you'll look at the list a lot of Misskey instances don't report their MAU for some reason

  • To the person who reported this article as being off topic for this community

I'm not going to lie, but I'm very disappointed in this response, I was expecting this community to be a place for the factual information, because all of Fedi is already filled with all kinds of opinions, with varying degree of accuracy. I was expecting that the community the name !fediverse_vs_disinfo@lemmy.dbzer0.com will be a place for facts, and I have even been subscribed to it, because I've seen stories from reputable fact-checkers and organizations being posted there, i don't see a problems with posting your opinion in reply to a fact, but posting an opinion as one seems completely different to me. I'm not talking about this specific article that I might agree or disagree with, the point is that it's an opinion, not a fact. t's okay if you don't like some fact, it doesn't make it less true, but that's not it. What the point of "fact-checking" community if these posts with be mixed with not fact-checked opinions?

@Flatworm7591@lemmy.dbzer0.com , in my eyes, pushing your agenda instead of focusing on the facts and fighting disinformation is the wrong way to go, it completely discredits the idea of this whole community, but it's your community and you're the mod, so it's choice to where you want to take this community, to become another propaganda pub(but with "right" opinions) or to fight propaganda and disinformation like you baldly claim. Thank you for spending your time to read this.

  • I recommend trying out GrayJay, it has YouTube and it's most popular alternatives in one app, this way you can still watch folk from YouTube and support other platforms

  • @unknown1234_5@kbin.earth

    1. First of all I think it would fit better in !mbinmeta@gehirneimer.de
    2. To answer your question, MBin has "microblog" tab, when you open it you can see a text field, this is where text that you wanna write goes. To mention people you write @ username @ instance.name , like I wrote at the start of this message. You also have to choose a magazine, if you're unsure you can just choose "random".
  • I mean that's not the only thing, I can follow this MBin account that I'm using to talk with you from Threads, and I can interact with Threads posts as well, I've even gotten likes from there

Something like that is impossible with Twitter, altho I wouldn't be fully against the idea to reconnect with a few people I know who refused to leave it for whatever reason

Also, look at the bright side, people that use Threads at least don't use Twitter, I think it's a small step in the right direction, no?

  • You can always choose an instance that defederates Threads, that the beauty of the open web

  • To be fair there's a lot of ad spam bots that I see on Mastodon as it is.. I see better moderation tools as a solution, not being a walled garden

  • FYI Framasoft, non profit behind PeerTube also has an official Lemmy community on !framasoft@lemmy.world , I was surprised to see how small it is, so give them a follow

  • I think the mobile app was released around that time, that's probably what happened

Edit: I was wrong, the mobile app was released in December, I'm unsure what happened then

  • Microblogging Fediverse software that also supports build-in payments/subscriptions AFAIK
