  • I always loved history, especially 20th century. My parents were apolitical "both sides bad" types they didn't provide any real guidance, but taught me to think critically.

    I grew up in an extremely conservative area in the late 90s, where mentioning Michael Moore got you labeled an extremist and I was told the Black Panthers were just their version of the KKK.

    The stolen election of 2000, 9/11 fever, and the Iraq war all started to sour me on American politics, but Republicans were obviously worse.

    I spent a lot of time with airsoft players, who are ludicrously fascist, and this shaped my view of how the chud mind works.

    I started listening to punk music a lot and became a left-lib, theory-avoiding, lazy western ancom through the bush-obama years.

    Watching the DNC ratfuck Bernie in 2016 and russiagate finally got me to start unlibbing my mind. Chapo the podcast and subreddit were major influences in pushing me all the way left. A 20+ year journey to figure out everything's fucked and it's not gonna get better. At least now I understand why.

  • When I had appendix surgery, the pain when waking up was seriously awful. I've gotten really woozy and nauseous from morphine before, so I asked for something else to deal with the unbearable pain, and they gave me a crumb of fentanyl. All my pain was gone in the blink of an eye. It really is an effective drug

Tons of racial tension from his immigration and anti -"DEI" (code for anti-black) policies, and possibly incoming devastating economic tension from the tariffs disruption the consumer market.   • Maybe the best example would be the collapse of the USSR, where massive pieces of state-owned infrastructure were privatized and sold for scrap to unscrupulous opportunists who were able to capitalize at the moment of crisis, while the majority of the population suffered a loss of retirements and the extenuating circumstances of a collapsing state (death, poverty, food insecurity, addiction, homelessness, etc).   • My college years were spent working until midnight at a food service job, then I got away from it for about ten years, then while working a ~9-5 I got a second job delivering pizzas in the evening. That shift of workers invited me for drinks after close, but I always had to decline because I had responsibilities to get back to and delivery was just extra money. Still, your point stands that a huge part of the workforce that maintains this way of life doesn't get to participate in business hours. It's one thing I like about my town because it has a lot of "food handlers happy hours" on Mon-Tue or during late hours
