I've owned all versions, 5D 1-4, the 50MP DS/DSR, It all ended with the MKIV, they're mirrorless now so 5D is now R5. All very capable cameras, the MKIV is still very popular with pros, and even the MKII is still arguably relevant.
Looks like a phone snap, you want more control over the light as there appears to be two color temperatures fighting with each other.
If you're able to get your camera locked off nicely you can build up the lighting by using multiple exposures and blending the frames in post. For example, one exposure with just the key light, then another for fill, then you can blend in selectively.
Styling wise I find it a bit perculiar - are these ready to eat? If not why are they plated up like that. It's not quite making me want to reach in and grab some which I'd usually aim for in food photography.

Not familiar with that particular lens but the full frame version is very well regarded. Definitely a setp up from amy kit lens. I would still advise looking at second hand and bear in mind EF mount lenses will work very well with an adapter. You will get more bang for buck if you avoid RF lenses for a while.
Highest quality would be a few cheap EF mount primes (or a single RF-S prime), most versatile would be a wide zoom. You might even have enough budget for a wide zoom and longer prime if you buy second hand.
Absolutely, while being able to silently capture a 30FPS burst is kinda magic, it just feels wrong. I still shoot with mechanical shutter (at least second curtain), basically for the feels (and the extra bit depth).
There's a reason mirrorless is here to stay, the autofocus is basically cheat mode compared to a DSLR. I do miss some aspects of the optical viewfinder though.
