  • You have to reward the behavior you want to see. I don’t like her, and I think she’s done tons of horrible shit. But if she suddenly woke up tomorrow and because a leftist, I’d fucking cheer her on and become a supporter. Even if she was only doing it out of spite to republicans she felt wronged by. Because it’s more important that good shit gets done than that we hold grudges against people. So even though she’s not a full blown leftist right now, and probably never will be, I’m still going to cheer on the good behavior I do see and continue to call out and pushback against the bad behavior

    Bernie needs every ally he can get, and honestly, republicans have a much better track record of actually passing legislation they want, so maybe some republicans having moments of clarity and supporting basic human rights is a damn good thing

  • Trump has been riling up his fan base and conspiracy theorists since the election. Actually, he has been riling them up since the 2016 election by accusing the dems of all being pedophiles and saying he was going to lock them up. But in the 2024 election, he talked about Epstein specifically quite a few times and led his base to believe he would actually release the Epstein files. Unlike the economy, which you can use various metrics to claim it’s doing good or bad (stock market, grocery prices, etc.) Epstein is a pretty black and white case of “he’s literally a pedophile and was found guilty for doing lots of horrible things.” Everyone, conservatives and liberals, has spent many years rightly hating the guy, but also waiting for everyone he was involved with to also be punished. The maga base was dumb enough to believe that it was only dems and maybe a few unimportant republicans on the list, but they’re out for blood that Trump is refusing to give them, so they’re starting to actually turn on him, a little at least. Trump’s big mistake was thinking that he could use the Epstein files like he’s used everything else so far. In his mind, pedophilia is no different to Hillary’s emails: just a way to rile up his base and use their anger. He assumed that if he stopped talking about it then they would too. He’s so out of touch and evil that he didn’t realize that to the average, non-elite American pedophilia is unforgivable and it’s something conservatives will actually fight against (that’s why republicans accuse trans and gay people and basically anyone they don’t like of being a pedophile: it’s wildly effective)

  • Dude this is about grammar not tech. They just gave you the physical description of what an em dash looks like and why it’s different to an en dash or a hyphen. As for the grammatical uses, hyphens are for like connected words like if you say half-sister. En dashes are technically for in between dates like July 19 – July 28. (People rarely use en dashes tho) Em dashes are similar to commas or parenthesis and have a wide variety of uses. For example you could say “I grabbed my AirPods—which had a cute Toothless case—and ran to the car, hoping I wouldn’t be late for school.”

  • I liked to sprinkle em dashes into my essays bc they can be quite nice for the flow of a sentence. I’m so glad I graduated a few years ago bc if LLMs had been a big thing the entire time I was at college my profs would have always suspected me of using them :(

It’s like how I was looking to buy a laptop recently and a bunch of them came with a wireless mouse or a year long subscription for Microsoft office. I didn’t want or need those things, but they bundle them into the laptop so they can say “look at all the stuff you’re getting! Give us more money for this stuff you don’t want!” The parking availability makes the property more valuable technically, so they can charge more for renting or buying

  • Aw man nebula is great. I totally recommend it to anyone with the extra disposable income. I got into it because Dr. Simon Clark (climate scientist YouTuber) had a discount link on one of his videos and it turned out that a bunch of other creators I like are on it, like HelloFutureMe and NotJustBikes. The only thing I feel like it’s missing is comments on videos, but I get that moderating that would be a lot, and while I like to know what other people think, I’m willing to sacrifice that for an overall better experience

  • I’ve been to Seattle twice and we went to the market both times. We always walked from our hotel bc there’s quite a few hotels in that area (almost like it’s a hot tourist area) but even when we wanted to go somewhere further away, we just either used public transit or those rentable scooter things. Also the first time we went to pike place market like 4 years ago or something cars kept trying to drive around the crowd and it made everything so much worse. I swear some people have forgotten that not using a car is an option, even when they only want to go somewhere a block away

  • That’s why you gotta primary out the ones that don’t actually do their job. Like if it’s too late to primary one out then yeah vote for the dem over the overt fascist but that’s a last resort. If you have the time, check and see if any actually good candidates are running in the primaries and see if you can volunteer and help them out with their campaign. Obviously not everyone has the time or ability, but every little bit helps if you can

  • I was so sick of all the ai crap on YouTube that I just turned off YouTube recommended altogether (get the YouTube unhooked extension and you can also hide shorts and comments if you choose). Going down the rabbit hole used to be fun when it was nerds explaining their current hyperfixation and all, but with so much slop it’s just angering
