I'm not one of those people that needs to eat at precise intervals or even every day. I just eat when in hungry for something.
In summer dinner is usually my first (and often only) meal.
I almost never eat breakfasts (especially if I woke up "only" a few hours ago). Never could, even parents wanted me to but I just had better days without breakfast as a kid so they stopped insisting.
I assume that when I travel I have access to food basically everywhere or else I know I have to plan that - which again I do in a way that I eat when I want.
Yes, very much this (and the big price differences, and how cheap oils are also sold as expressive ones). Smol producers of extra virgin (= cold pressed with low yields) olive oils usually offer good price/performance, at least until they become a brand & sell out.
Other oils also have a ton of specifics ("oil" is a very broad term), like how fast flax oil degrades in quality & the 'use by' date are useless.
(Tho it's still important to understand how heat affects divergent & differently prepared oils - and especially for what you absolutely do need refined oil, regardless of plant.)
Yeah, can't write it down directly that he can't high five.
The complaint of "distracted children" didn't come from the police, it came from drivers who had to wait those "10 seconds" - but not bcs of the wait, def bcs of how it affects the children (who forget why the crossing guard is there & have convos about philosophy & art??).
And even at that it seems more parents agree with high-fiving than are opposed - so you know it was just one bitchy municipal official who lives nearby & just hates everything & everyone.
Engaging with children (who for some reason still wouldn't get the importance of careful crossing) might be more of a benefit imho - the guard can then point out to kids who didn't pay enough attention what they (could have) missed. You know, so they learn that its a constant thing & that the mere knowledge of it (what to answer when someone asks them) isn't enough.
Otherwise the "guard" could just be just an umbrella holder with a sign.
(I'm sure the guard def didn't go like: "Hey, kid, look at me, no, don't look left or right, just concentrate on me & start walking forward! And think of an elaborate secret high five manoeuvre that lasts for 10 seconds & that I'll def remember!")
But drivers often do get inpatient at the delay of 10 seconds & it fucks their whole day up.
It's not like this kids hold up traffic for 30 minutes every day.
Even if so - the definition of oneself is what that person gets paid for, not what that person enjoys doing (or even is just good at)?
(Especially with jobs, folk on LinkedIn will describe their job as anything but their actual everyday job, or lie/exaggerate about their job when with other people - so not even that "role" is true.)
... like, lmao, except if it's like a weird grinding kink or something.
I think there is no possible world where people are without meaningful work and are happy about it.
-->
Even if they collected $10,000 a month and got to spend all of their time doing hobbies and spending time with family, it would feel pointless and hollow.
What is the difference between "hobby" and "work" if not what random people decide what is better monetised?
Both is labour & value added.
In a world where everyone gets enough money people could do what they actually want. So a CEO wouldn't be "stuck" being a CEO if they don't like that job & would rather be eg a baker. In the current system bcs of a huge pay divergence you get an unhappy CEO (who ofc won't quit) and an unhappy baker that just couldn't get a more suited paying job.
But we as a society would get a lot more out of life & cultural progression if people would be happy & satisfied at what they do (job=hobby).
Empirical evidence (even USA did extensive tests in the 60s) show that given a universal income (so basically no scarcity) basically nobody just sits around watching TV all day, everyone is productive (research, art, services, etc).
Imagine only having customer support or food industry workers that truly enjoy their job & want to do it.
How many prodigies are stuck at random dead end jobs with no prospects and life options?
Labour is what we all benefit from.
Work is what the employer/owner benefits from.
Omg, they can't breathe, they are inhaling their own CO2 & toxic bacteria, they are probably dead already!!
