  • My keyboard is a Microsoft Comfort curve. It cost $20 and has lasted for 15 years through multiple computers. Completely got rid of my wrist issues from standard keyboards.

Glad you found a keyboard that works for you though.

  • Why weren't you getting an eye exam every year as a standard?

I'm in the US and once a year is pretty standard. Why would you only go to the eye doctor twice in 15 years? Do you not have regular eye exams as the norm?

  • Reminds me of the parents who left their baby with the grandparents and the grandparents gave the baby ivermectin to 'protect' them from COVID.

Hospital couldn't save the poor kid.

  • For the grand majority of folks, Name, relationship label, self-reported location (city or zip), and birth year.

The ones with DNA compromises would be the ones whose accounts were directly accessed.

  • I'm not sure how much MFA would have mattered in this case.

23andme login is an email address. Most MFAs seem to use email as an option these days. If they're already reusing passwords, the bad actor already has a password to use for their emails that's likely going to work for the accounts that were affected. Would it have brought it down? Sure, but doesn't seem like it would've been the silver bullet that everyone thinks it is.

  • I figured that came through in the "I've been following kpop for the better part of a decade" comment that you originally replied to, but since it wasn't clear enough, yes, I'm a fan of kpop and know many fans of kpop who aren't 4chan people at all, and many who don't care about idol lives or the papparazzi pictures. (Yes, obviously there are 4chan folks who like kpop, like you can find 4chan folks who like any genre of music).

Kpop, like the majority of pop, is typically marketed to young women because women spend money on products or tend to have more decision making power over where money is spent (obviously varies by person or household). 4chan is usually not a haven for young women, or any women for that matter.

Like the majority of music genres, the fans are diverse and are interested in it for a variety of different reasons. If the only people that you're finding who listen to kpop are 4chan folks, I think that says more about the folks that you associate with or the places that you frequent than it does about kpop fans.

  • Yeah, as I said, you have a very limited view on that genre of music and you're really proving that now. Like any type of music, people are into it for a number of reasons.

  • That's a very limited view on a genre of music.

  • I've been following kpop for the better part of a decade. This isn't the first celebrity I know of with a drug scandal that pushes them to suicide or attempted suicide. I'm sure it won't be the last either. It's basically career suicide, even if it's just weed.

  • GIF was pronounced with soft g since it came out, back in the 80s/90s when it was shared on AOL and CompuServe.

FWIW, in the 80s & 90s, everyone I knew pronounced it with a hard G, including folks at computer shows, which my family used to go to frequently.

To me, the soft g 'jif' pronunciation is the new Internet fad, not the other way around.

  • You've been able to do diacritical marks with ASCII for over thirty years. It's already standard. alt+0233

  • You should be driven more by the content of your food, than how "pretty" it is.

    That's not how people work.

You could have the most delicious beef Wellington on the planet, but if it looks like monkey brains, it's going to give people a gag reflex. If you have a good that your brain expects to taste one way and it tastes another way, then it might cause a gag reflex or other aversion. Of your food looks spoiled, people will be adverse to it even if it's fresh and perfectly fine.

You can't undo human survival evolution because it's 'unnecessary' with the snap of your fingers.

  • You and I pronounce 'quay' very differently.

  • Some people just like to argue.
