  • I read on my phone a lot and I’m a pretty fast reader so having to stop reading every time I have to scroll down a bit and find my place again is really irritating after anything more than a couple paragraphs.

With a higher frequency screen you can slow scroll as you read which is still faster than you can read so when reading content that isn’t heavily paginated you can just keep reading indefinitely without having to pause almost at all and it’s just a much nicer and fluid experience.

  • When reading on a smaller screen there is more scrolling, and on a phone with a lower frequency screen there’s significantly more blur to the text as you scroll.

  • When I was in the same spot, the only camera that hit all the bullet points and didn’t cost a fortune were Reolink cameras

  • Fret not, anything they aren’t going to actively milk will likely be sold off to try and pay back the $20 billion dollar loan they took to make this purchase.

  • Well there was just some base level of hope in the back of some people’s minds that one day they might get their shit together and now that hope is entirely gone.

  • I’m seeing a lot of games with what seems like a much steeper discount than usual. First thing I do when there’s a steam sale is look at my wishlist and sort by discount and there are a lot of games on sale for 90% off, many of which only a couple dollars.

  • The only actual evidence we’ve been shown is that he was largely apolitical but grew up in a MAGA family, and at some point in time began disliking CK, possibly due to a pendulum swing against his hard right family after moving out. There’s no real evidence to support that he was hard right or hard left, or in fact had any strong political affiliations. Only that he disliked the guy he shot enough to shoot him.

  • Well I suppose those driving a Ford model T never felt left out not having a Mustang. But my trusty Pixel 5 lives on 90hz and the battery lasts close to a week between charges. But if you’ve really want to squeeze a few extra minutes of battery life out of your phone and don’t care about usability you should also think about keeping your screen on the lowest brightness at all times, never take it out of extreme battery saver mode, and maybe even just sell it and buy a flip phone? The batteries on some of those will blow your mind.

  • You’re better off with 120hz if you like reading things on your phone at all.

  • Because using a phone with a 60hz refresh rate is disgusting

  • I spent several years looking for the perfect selfhosted solution to this, but ultimately I realized an offline solution was just going to be better. So I started using Obsidian which is as simple or complex as you want with no paywall.

Some of the self hosted solutions I’ve tried were:

  • That’s why I switched to Emby and only sometimes regret it lol.

  • Jellyfin can’t even do smart collections of TV and movies

  • Well after reading this I just went to open the app and it now things none of my tens of thousands of photos are synced to the server, yet the sync icon at the top says there’s nothing to sync. So… not great today lol.

Overall it’s been a very buggy experience for a long time and evidently that’s not about to change anytime soon.

  • Each bookmark card does not make enough room for the title of each bookmark, so they’re cut off with an ellipses at the end. The readability while looking over your bookmarks is pretty bad as a result. Like after a certain point that’s unavoidable, but it doesn’t help that the spacing and margins in each card are excessive.

KaraKeep uses a similar card layout and handles it much better as a counter example.

  • I can see from the screenshot they still haven’t fixed the title text being cut off in each bookmark.

  • They are because those same people are boycotting anyway for two other reasons.

    • The game features a female lead this time around.
    • the voice and performance actress of the player character is left wing
  • The NYPD beat cops aren’t really trained to look for or discover cyber security threats. Additionally, the secret service agents that discovered these were not from Washington but from the local NYC field office, and it was most likely due to heightened security measures surrounding the UNGA visit specifically.

They weren’t jammers either, they were just sim farms, commonly used for spam calling and other general mid-level cybercrime like that. Think of them as “A bunch of phones”

The thing is, the importance of this whole event is just being exaggerated, likely to make the Trump admin look good. Like they said these could “take down NYCs cell infrastructure” but they said they only found 100,000 SIM cards total. If every one of those turned on at the same time and tried to overload local infrastructure, it would result in a 1% increase in cell network utilization inside NYC.
