  • A few months ago while shopping, I overheard an elderly gentleman being told by a sales rep that AI is utilized for some feature in the man's new set of hearing aids. The old man looked so confused, like that one John Cena meme. I felt so bad for the guy

  • People really forget that Obama wanted a much more robust system but had to compromise literally time and time again just to get it passed. I remember all the revisions they tried because Republicans kept changing their demands and prevent the whole thing altogether.

  • Well it isn't going to get done by itself

  • Of course lol obviously I want a team member that works hard and is motivated, and ultimately polite and easy to work with. But also, people can change. Things happen in their lives that change their motivations and needs.

If they just want money, that's fine, but I've seen and experienced how pushing someone who is working decently (or great, even) can cause their performance to tank if they didn't want to be pushed in first place.

Managing large teams is less about managing their work and more about managing the people so that they can work more effectively.

  • I don't control the hiring process and I don't control the incoming members of my team, so don't assume I'm an idiot. My team has excellent performance and I was able to get approval for my team to grow from 30 to 60+ people.

IDK why you assume I don't try to encourage my team, honestly. We get good results so I reward them well. For our line of work and our company, we have greater efficiency than a majority of our counterparts in our region. If we performed poorly, I would have a different approach.

We do have people the test the boundaries, so I work with them on it and try to improve it. If nothing gets better, I have them replaced.

  • I've been in a management role for the past 3yrs. I always tell my team that I don't expect more than the minimum stated in our job responsibilities, that I expect us to work as a team when needed, to maintain a moderate balance between their work and their lives, and to try and maintain a positive attitude.

Work sucks, so I don't care so much about motivation, but I want my team to be happy. None of us want to be working, but none of us want to be miserable, either.

Be authentic but learn to be friendly because it helps you and those around you. From a career standpoint, I've seen people go far and make tons of money due to this, even if they weren't the that intellectual or motivated.

  • Chappelle has always been tone-deaf about many things, he's just more obvious about it since he's older. Glad more and more people are noticing his hypocrisy

  • Nah, because chest compressions in rhythm are the best thing until medical professionals arrive. The degree to which the straws / shields help is minimal at best and actually detrimental at worst.

Also, anyone reading this should get certified. In the US, it takes a couples hours in one day and lasts a year.

  • Yeah, never heard them called mud bees. Only ever heard them as dirt / mud daubers, and they're very obviously wasps.

They don't hurt as much as you'd think, but you'll still feel it for a day or two

  • I feel like Epstein was just the tip of the iceberg. I don't believe he was the only one the elite utilized, I just think he was one that kept getting caught and used as a fall guy.

  • There are those of us who studied economics who aren't brainwashed by Friedman and the like. But the US has proven for decades that it would prefer greed and individualism to influence policy rather than actual economic theory.

  • This was in Cleveland, in the Mississippi Delta. For those who don't know, the Mississippi Delta had some of the largest plantations in Mississippi and the racial and economic divide still very much holds up today. Plus Mississippi authorities are some of the most racist in the country, so no foul play my ass

  • I'm from MS, and my anecdotal experience is not representative of everyone. That being said, the number of people I knew that who experienced sexual abuse in their marriages was shockingly high compared to other placed I have lived.

  • People like Kirk will see that quote and say things like, "See, not every belief is equal and not every belief should be defended, that's how we got to this point." The mental gymnastics is incredible

  • Personally, I think very few people in life are truly independent and never need help or assistance with something. As far as thriving, I know way more people that are struggling with something like their finances, health, or something else.

I think most people either get lucky early on and their lives generally go well, or they don't get lucky early in life.

Edit: As a child, I thought life was hard but ultimately a good experience if you put in the work and did the right things. As I got older, I realized that my life is mostly bleak but with some good experiences throughout.

  • Ah fuck the movie was a little different than I remember
