  • Bingo. I've used Synology for ages and while they dont last forever, I get a lot of use out of them and re-buy them usually with an upgrade in mind.

But the new hard drive policy broke that cycle. I don't put up with that. I replaced one with a UGreen NAS last month. It's too early to tell how I feel about it. Docker is there and containers spin up pretty easily. Rumor has it there is hardware support for video encoding too, though I haven't gotten around to testing it.

  • My strawberries just started taking off too! Also my watermelon started flowering again and my Japanese maple sent out just one branch with new leaves and buds. My garden is confused!

  • He's trying to provoke cities that had large protests into violence, but we're not biting. I'm pretty sure they are profiling activists who show up.

  • Saudi arabia is buying up a lot of games lately. I suppose that is their data mining strategy.

  • ... it has been plagued for years by severe understaffing ... The agency has a $3 billion repair backlog, thousands of positions are vacant ...

Doesn't sound like a good time to pick a fight with 35,000 of your employees.

Workers will not be removed, suspended or demoted without cause and due process

We've seen "causes" fabricated to target individuals and ideologies. Breaking unions probably allows targeted removals of employees' peers (cough democrats cough) without triggering a strike.

  • I think it's that thing well-off people have so they don't have to eat the rich when the end days come. I'm only guessing though; that's definitely not my demographic.

  • Looking at our local RV camps, I don't think maintenance is a priority. Just had to move far enough when the city pushes them around.

I'll note (I haven't read the article yet; going to do) lots here live in RV's but have a second car for travel/work. Many of those second cars are better than my daily driver.

  • While hating ICE as much as the next commenter... What if we did?

Seriously, bringing the state into the mix could establish proper paper trails, log activity, ensure access to legal representation, verify warrants, and uphold laws so frequently violated by Trump's Gestapo.

Sort of a malicious compliance thing if the Fed is twisting your arm.

  • Well, only half voted for it. But the diplomatic, nonviolent half are somehow domestic terrorists now so...

  • Haha! Wow good catch. I even looked it up to make sure I spelled it right. Dang.

  • Bingo. I had interviews with Apple and Google with 2 relevant collage degrees. They offered $18/hour. I quit a $25/hour job to get through college.

Too bad back then. I was an Apple fanatic back in the day and their next ad campaign was exactly my skillset. The whole experience really soured the company for me and I never bought another product from them again.

  • What. The. Fuck.

    Can we secede already?

    Edit: Fixed embarrassing typo

  • Are you confusing a signal jammer or an actual pulse? I'm no expert by any means, but the tech you'd have to lug around makes it pretty impractical.

Plus, there that whole pacemaker thingy, ya know? A pretty bad idea overall.

  • Hey Disney/ABC, capitulation hasn't worked. What's your next move?

  • "'Mislead' the American public" is all it takes to get cancelled now? Great! Let's run down the list of "alternative fact", MAHA, QAnom, pizza gate, election deniers, etc and cancel their shows, social profiles, and various platforms.

  • Someone mark this NSFW because that's some serious balls. My hat off to you, sir.

  • I just quoted that to reference my comment to yours.

But I still disagree on the motivation behind the violence whether political, fame, or trendy. I think it's being wronged and powerless within the the limits of our legal system and stalled economic possibilities that make some lash out.

  • ... desperately want any kind of fame

I don't really agree. In neither case did the perpetrator seek attention, rather the event itself was spotlighted by the news cycle.

I feel the cases cited were retaliations to perceived wrongs undermining our rights; a last ditch effort from abuses or failures our government should protect us from.

  • Office Depot taking a stance and drawing a line in the sand.

They could have been like Walgreens/CVS who back pharmacists for refusing to fulfill prescriptions based on their personal beliefs.

Wait, what? No! Who's the good guy again? None? Ahhfuck'emall.
