Wanna see a trick? I can make bots appear, watch this:
Maybe if China agrees to stop being a threat to Taiwan, stops interfering in our politics, and stops spying on us, and builds some auto plants here to employ some Canadians, we can talk about their fucking EVs. Until then, we already have one international bully as a trade partner, we don't need more.
Overpriced homes will go unbuilt, as will homes for foreign investors and homes for short term rentals. That's all good news so far. Demand for affordable homes for Canadians homes will continue, and so will supply. Supply of those homes will increase as supply of the overpriced decreases - ie when the real estate industry starts building what people want and no what they want to sell.
"homes will go Unbuilt if we don't bend over for the real estate industry" is exactly the same lie as "if we tax Job Creators the jobs will go away".
You know how I know there's nothing in this article that pertains to the best interests of Canadians? It's sources are in the real estate industry, the least talented yet most entitled group of "entrepreneurs" the world has thus far produced.
Being a news editor is tough, thankless work. But all the long hours and missed family events pay off when you get to use the word "sextorter" in a headline.
Or, maybe it's not (just) distraction. Maybe he is seeding interest amongst the Canadian magatards. Maybe this is designed to give traction to Dani Smith and her ilk, to create division and internal strife.
Maybe Trump and the repubs have been following a playbook for all his Canada talk... maybe Putin's playbook on Ukraine.
I guess you would apply the tariff on the company that buys distribution rights for broadcast or theatrical release in the former USA. Which would make it near impossible to release a foreign-produced film in there.
The intent wouldn't be to actually collect the tariffs, it would be to stop US filmmakers from filming outside the USA.
This would devastate the US film industry... so many great shows just wouldn't be made if they couldn't save money filming elsewhere. Even if they could all afford it, there simply isn't enough production capacity in the former USA if all those productions returned home tomorrow.
Most of the new prime originals are schlock like this, imo. I mean, Jack Ryan was fucking unwatchable, and I will watch some shitty spy thrillers.
I think there's some shittification going on with Prime because they realized you can stick a star into a badly written, mid-budget show with a few action sequences and the rubes will watch.
Since The Boys, has there been an honestly good Prime original?
"I thought the Titans of industry would be the guardrails of democracy".
Such bullshit. Industry has always loved fascism, it's the ideal state for corporations. This explains why mainstream politics in the US has been inching towards fascist authoritanism since at least Nixon.
Trump didn't start this... he's just the right guy at the right time, the US would have gotten here sooner or later.
The foreign student program is so fucking rife with exploitation it's ridiculous. It could be cleaned up overnight if we had some real regulation and oversight of the thousands of "business colleges" that exploit them... but then we'd be killing a cash cow, I guess.
lol. Do you really think the economic impact of our canola industry is on par with the potential impact Chinese EVs? It's a ridiculous notion.
