  • I still don't think the best solution to an under-staffed team is to try to make a competing under-staffed team. I think just contributing would be more helpful for all, especially with the plugin support coming soon to Lemmy

how long until Sublinks catches up to Lemmy?

  • That post complains about not being able to view/manage images hosted by your instance, but v0.19.4 already fixed that last week? So that kinda disproves them saying the Lemmy developers didn't want it to be possible. Also the post complains about the amount of storage used by caching images but that was also fixed/improved in v0.19.4

Their other complaint about not being able to view a list of users, there's an open issue for that, give it a thumbs up reaction if you think it should be prioritized (github lets you sort by them like upvotes) https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy-ui/issues/2450

  • Yeah I did take the age into account, I just figured it's over a 10x difference and not all of that would be due to battery age.

My mom is still using my release day Galaxy S9+ lol

  • very interesting, I wonder if the difference is due to the Pixel 8 Pro having a variable refresh rate screen, maybe also because it has a higher resolution screen and different graphic drivers

but with Chrome being about 10x more efficient on P8P than P4a, I'm guessing the variable refresh rate is a big factor there that Firefox isn't using as optimally

  • the Summit app also allows this

  • would be cool but I don't think the ActivityPub protocol allows that

it's kind of outside of Lemmy's control

personally I don't care that much about post history or karma or whatever

  • you can move your account though, there are buttons to export and import on your settings page

it won't bring your post/comment history with you, but it will carry over your subscriptions and saved/bookmarked posts/comments

  • maybe some instances will want "New Comments" to be the default, like old forums

the inclination of people to never adjust default settings

yea lol so many people just will not change any settings on anything

  • Set your language options in your profile settings, should hide some of them, I think they're still working on improving Lemmy's default language settings

  • IDK if we're really missing any software features, but I feel like it's a good opportunity for a Lemmy plugin

  • Especially with Lemmy getting support for plugins soon, I don't see the need for making a new platform

A new sorting method for "unanswered" is a cool idea. I'm not sure if it's quite as simple as just finding posts with 0 comments, because people can put additional questions in the comments but it's still unanswered. Also how do you sort them for posts with the same number of comments/answers. But this is definitely something that a plugin could handle.

I saw someone else suggested we could just put "[unanswered]" in the title and then edit the title to "[answered]"

  • Oh that's really dumb

Maybe they should've rushed it instead of delaying it lol
