  • Cars

  • I bet you like nuclear.

  • Cool, when those heating elements are shipped over here via bunker fuel. I'll bet a boatload of those coming over is more emissions than running a NG burner for a decade

  • I'll quit using gas the day shipping vessels go back to being fucking wind powered

  • I think you completely misunderstood their response.

Swapping a heating element is easy.

Running some pipe is also easy.

Whether the OP has gas running to the house is a whole other question

  • Acetylene does, gas lines are standard pipe.

Suppose it's cause natural gas runs at like, 1-3 psi, while a fresh tank of acetylene is 5,000?

    Least in the US

  • You are part of the problem here

  • I have recently encountered a fellow who used 'die' as the plural

  • Hey what flavour is that paste?

  • Well for starters, kids aren't going to whinge about it- they're just going to use it, generally correctly for their setting.

Headlines when a royal family kid is bilingual, every day regular-ass survival when a poor border town kid does it, unprompted.

I mean, the royal kids totally would of got it on their own, right?

  • Whut the fuck Ugh

  • And they are adding, fast. Far faster than we are. That goal of nearly ten percent solar in less than two years?

That's not only fucking amazing, that's achievable, and they're on target for it.

As cheap as panels and controllers and batteries have gotten? It's only getting better.

Free electricity. From the fucking sky. Magic is real. You can play xbox with it

  • So I have a solar setup-older panels, like 15 years old. They can be 3/4 obscured by a building or whatever, and still make 85% of what they're rated to.

Which is fucking awesome. Right now, they're covered in so much dust I can see the 'clean' spots where the morning dew condensed on them, and they're still kicking 20 amps, about 15 more than I actually need.

Daily cleaning? Way excessive. Monthly? Maybe, probably less. Not a whole lot going on in between rails.

I'd be way more worried about tweakers trying to steal the wiring

  • The cleanliness of the panels isn't actually as big a deal as it's made out to be. Like yeah, they can't be completely obscured, but you'd be surprised at how fucking filthy they can be and still make juice. Or half-or more- covered with trees, or other shade.

Right now, my panels are covered in enough crap I really should hose them off, and they're still kicking 20 amps. So ahhh... fuck it. Maybe it'll rain and I won't have to.

Same with cloudy days-sometimes I get more power on cloudy days because the panels don't get at hot. Hell, some streetlights put out enough light to harvest energy from-but they're largely getting replaced with LED's. Sad face?

I expect with the type of traffic going on between rails, these will need vanishingly little maintenance. I hope it goes well

  • You may not be an old dude, but it sure seems like you already hit the wall.

Friend of mine's father, who was seventy at the time, got hit on by an older lady at the grocery store.

Lamenting that he didn't follow it up with her, "she was eighty, but a young eighty, if you know what I mean"

    Wall? Gtfo, dumbass

  • The culture war, you know, the one where a lot of folks think it's great we have things like birth control and public transportation and stuff.

And then a few other folks that think -basically, boiled down the real truth of it- that everyone that isn't a white male should be a slave to white males.

Obviously the best way to fight this is education, which a particular side has been hellbent on destroying, and considering what I was taught in public school, has been pretty effective about it.

Does it get to their wet dream of wantonly murdering folks in the street like they fantasize about? Well, we lost more people on our side in the 2020 protests than they did.

Probably something to with believing people are humans, and should be treated with dignity.

So get some goddamn guns and go to the range. I'd rather have it and not need it, and know how to fucking use it

Once again, I understand the best way to win is education. My short patience and compassion is entirely spent on people near me, so if you can go around teaching ignorant morons right from wrong please do. They already know. Their in-group lets them get away with it

  • Sounds like it's as random as the list this sherrif's putting together, don't it?

  • Well the way things are currently, is that certain people get murdered and shit on for super arbitrary reasons, so uhh.

    Yeah. Fuck em
