The bed length comment was more of a dig at 5ft beds on other trucks and a shortened cab would compel a 5ft bed; truck guys want a 6ft bed and only tolerate a 5ft bed. Although a 7 or 8 foot bed is pretty glorious if you actually use a truck as a truck.
The price isn't really the problem with the cybertruck. The problem is that it is ugly. Truck guys want a truck and not an avant garde design philosophy on wheels. The same truck with a more contemporary design would have sold better, like the Rivian and the Lightning.
Rivian has sold around ~50k units, Ford sold ~33k, and Tesla sold ~39k. Rivian did have a 2 year head start on Tesla but had production volume problems that held them back.
Most of the people who bought it, did so because it was novel and/or they were already Tesla fans. The power and features made the aesthetics more tolerable.
The design pushed away more buyers that might have gone electric; they instead waited for the Lightning or got a Rivian because they look like trucks instead of a dumpster made into art as a critique of consumerism.
Nobody who wanted a cybertruck and didn't buy one cared about Elon's actions in the government or the salute, they didn't buy a cybertruck because they didn't want to spend $80k on a refrigerator that was going to be vandalized by people who hate Elon enough to commit felony property damage to a car with 360 degree parking cameras.
Context matters. The sane version of the Cybertruck would have release in 2023 and sold well. Fleet sales would have gone for an extended cab over a 4 door like the Lightning or Cybertruck(not that they would go for a cybertruck anyways due to the impractically.
If they would have been smart, they would have done a two door extended cab with a 6ft bed and more conventional truck aesthetics with the Tesla design language and put in a fused bus bar in the frunk. Basically a bigger and more feature rich version of the Slate truck.
They could have sold so many for fleet use and to people who want an electric truck that can tow. Sure the Ford guys would have gone for the Lightning, but everybody else would have got the Cybertruck on a least a lease while they waited for GMC and Dodge.
Instead they made an ugly vehicle that has a tiny market and overproduced it.
I think it worse than that. I don't think Donny has had any real or close friends for most of his adult life stemming from his childhood relationships with others.
He seems to be distrustful of anyone and can only see them for their value to his goals. Once they stop being useful or compliant, he gets rid of them or distances from them. Look at Musk, seemed real close and Donny manipulated Musk's autistic nature as a useful tool, only to cut him loose once Musk realized the reality and wasn't on-board anymore.
His marriages may be evidence to support this as well. Melania was around 28 and working as a model, which is "too old" for that line of work, and she saw him as a viable means to keep her dwindling career alive. She eventually latches into him because of his connections and wealth. She was a model to hang on his arm and tolerant of his cheating enough to stick around because she had aged out of being a model and didn't like other prospects. I suspect their marriage is open as a convenience and to avoid a divorce that would no end well for Melania and/or Trump. A marriage that is more a business partnership than a relationship of genuine love, as if Donny is even capable of genuine love.
He probably grew up with others like him, who learned from their parents, that people are only useful to have around until they aren't. This mirrors business relationships. Allowing for personal relationships opens you up to weakness and leverage over you, which can't be allowed if you are to be successful.
The business world probably reinforced his view of personal relationships. People you would consider friends may end up getting in the way of your next step, so you have to position yourself emotionally so you can cut their throat and not think twice. You may do things to better your situation that may screw over a friend directly or indirectly, can't let your feelings get in the way of doing what must be done for your interests, if they won't capitulate.
Epstein was probably very useful for whatever purpose he served to Donny due to the known connections Epstein had, but problematic enough to keep a distance from. So he got a birthday card, just to keep enough of a connection should his utility become needed. I think he knew what Epstein was up to very well, but probably didn't partake because he was/is too distrustful of anyone to allow them to get such leverage over him.
If he has/had interests in Epstein's products, it is more Donny's style to use a power imbalance to get what he wanted; like getting the daughter of an illegal immigrant or a beauty pageant contestant(maybe via the overbearing mother of one living vicariously). Having Epstein arrange for something would expose Donny to manipulation and I think he would not allow for such a degree of trust in another person.
So yeah, I don't think he was friends with Epstein because he isn't friends with or close to anyone.
Not dismissing this:
A lot of people who are rich or deal with a lot of people, like Donny, have an assistant that deals with the tedious social crap like birthday letters. A great assistant would know to send an appropriate card for a given person. So a devote christian would get a card with something about Jesus and a sex-trafficker would get a lewd sexual card. How much oversight on the cards would depend on the person and a control freak like Donny would probably see the card, chuckle, and sign it.
So Donny sending a card doesn't necessarily imply a close friendship like you would expect with a typical person.
All the same, release the client list and whoever gets nailed to a wall deserves it and it should be a bipartisan issue to keep harassing the admin until they release the names and people go to jail or some other fate.

I am thousands of miles away from my home. I have been back a few times over the decades and every time I feel more peace, because I am home. I don't feel at home where I live, it still feels foreign to me because the environment is so different than the land my heart calls home.
The heartbreaking part is that it has deteriorated in some parts so that my heart hurts seeing it. The part that I am from remains what I remember, but going to the major city causes distress at the state of things.
Is that because you lived a life so unremarkable that nobody would want to look at photographs of you, even for historical source material or are you so miserable that you don't want any photographs of yourself because when you look at them all you can see is the pain in your eyes that only you can see through the lie of a smile you use to protect others from knowing the depths of your despair?
If they get past a 0.07 with 1 white claw, I envy their lack of tolerance induced financial burdens and I hope they have a great time where nobody gets hurt but I also hope they know their limit and never drink and drive because we all share the road and a drunk driver probably won't end up killing the person who doesn't understand that the left lane is for crime that really ruins the buzz on my drive home.
Have you ever looked through a photo album with pictures from your grandparents' grandparents?
Now imagine your relatives looking through a photo album from your life and being able to hold the same photograph that you held when you put it in the album. Imagine them looking at the back of the photograph and seeing the handwritten note that indicates who is in the photo and the date, maybe with a comment on the photo.
Digital picture frames are decorative e-waste, photo albums are a gift to the future.
In the time period they were referencing Polaroids were at risk of extinction because only one company was making the film at one plant and only through the complaining of hipsters were you able to have Polaroids at your wedding.
2001 Polaroid went bankrupt. 07-08 cameras and film stopped production.
2010 a hipster group restarted production.
2020 new Polaroid cameras are introduced.
Many younger people only know Polaroids as an icon in a video game or a prop from a music video; they don't know what they are called.
Anyone that is legally disabled that can still work, deserves time and a half all the time and their paycheck should not make any difference to their government assistance.
If you have the same job and are upset that they are making more than you, know that all that keeps you from getting a raise is your resolve and willingness to sacrifice.
He was decent at the pitch and everything, but I am street smart and could smell the bullshit immediately.
The other guy who was working in a gas station would have been a great mark that hit all the qualities of someone that would have chased the promise of a better life the dude was trying to sell us. I really hope he cut and ran and is doing well.
Hopefully some young or desperate person reads the story and remembers it when they get approached for an MLM.
That is a viable means to force a quick sale at a buyer favorable price, but that would also harm other homeowners in the area because the value of comparable homes of a similar type that have sold are factored into the estimates on houses going on the market.
So say a corporation is losing 5K a week off the sale of the home, it drives the price well below market because the market conditions aren't ideal at the time. The house sells for $50k below fair value. The week after that house sells, a similar house down the street goes on the market for $50k less than it would have prior to the other house selling.
That could be a big problem for the homeowners that want to sell and could cause some big problems for foreclosed houses seized by a local bank or credit union.
I don't support that idea. I would rather forbid corporations from buying houses in their name.
Another bad aspect is that institutions use the assets(houses) as leverage for stock market plays. So they just stack profits on profits while generating profits and your average person can't buy a house with a mortgage lower than their rent that goes up every year.
I like the tax hit on purchase, but I want ownership term limits of 5 years and massive taxes on the gains at sale.
Make corporate home ownership not worthwhile again.
There is a difference between forced socialism where the government uses their monopoly on violence to compel participation in distribution of resources under duress and personally giving of what you do not need to those who have less.
The store management willingly being charitable in their own community is fantastic and should be encouraged. It is the right way. The community should respond by giving them more business.
The government raising taxes to fund organizations that accomplish nothing of value at a high price while their management grows wealthy should be abolished.
An example is LA spending over $24B over 5 years to address homelessness without meaningful results. That average of $42,000 per person per year should easily handle the problem, even in LA metro. If they spent $75k per person per year, that should result in more than 5x the 45k homeless people LA has being set up in better circumstances. They tout 4.5k people getting off the streets last year as a win.
Compare that to Abode Services that helps 4.4k people every year with an operating budget of $29m.
Letting the government get involved only leads to waste and fraud as entities bid for contracts that they will commit fraud with the funds and nothing of value is done. It creates bloated administrative bodies that are only self-accountable and only have to report some progress to keep being awarded more and more money.
Heatwaves, you look like a conservative that left their family.
