  • For a while the best/fanciest digital cameras had three CCDs, one for each RGB color channel. I'm not sure if that's still the case or if the color filter process is now good enough to replace it.

  • TIL Angus McGuyver is Korean.

  • While the death of Azaria Chamberlain occurred in 1980, it was not common knowledge outside of Australia until the movie A Cry in the Dark released in 1988. As this cartoon was originally published in 1985 most readers would not have recognized the "a dingo ate my baby" meme.

  • Head Like a Hole.

  • Seems to be just a catridge adapter, the emulation is done on the attached PC.

  • There are different varieties with differing amounts of fat. That's the kind of ham that prosciutto would come from.

  • I would shovel that whole bowl of shrimp straight into my mouth.

  • It's a ham. The white and reddish areas are all part of it.

  • Not really an Easter Egg, more just an interesting fact. In the movie Youth in Revolt there is a scene where the two main characters purchase a camper. The man they buy the camper from is played by Michael Collins, the third crewman of Apollo 11 who remained in orbit while Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin landed on the moon.

  • I'm still salty that the season 2 ending cliffhanger of The Sarah Connor Chronicles never got to go anywhere.

  • Man, I loved Quark to the point I convinced all my school friends to play our own version of the show during recess.

  • This past summer my GF took a trip to Canada and took her laptop. To preempt any fuckery at the border when she came back into the US I full-disk encrypted it with Veracrypt and I burned an emergency recovery DVD at the time of encryption. She didn't have any trouble crossing back in, but better safe than sorry.

  • Ah, another Contact enjoyer.

  • Thief!

    Jump
  • How much was it per person?

  • The "dark side" of the moon is just the one that constantly faces away from the Earth. It gets just as much sunlight as the rest of the surface.

  • Which is also why animals lick their wounds, I believe.

  • I think his point is that this is less "news", and more "well, duh".
