I don't read DMs.

  • Here's the fix, don't let your kids use it. They shouldn't even have a phone until they're 16, IMO.

  • My body count is well over twenty, but nothing in the past eight years, by choice. I'm 60.

I'm not bragging, my number is pretty low compared to my contemporaries, even the women.

I do wonder about my virgin adult son, though. Not that I'd ever ask, it's his business, not mine. Also, none of this matters at all. Not seeing pictures of nude women, not having sex. It's just a nice aside to living life, not important.

  • Next tier evolution.

  • It's the clandestine (now overt) promotion of greed, bigotry, and hate, combined with the systematic decimation of our public school system. They've been working on this since before most of us were born.

  • Re-elected, yes. But over the past year he's betrayed so many of those who elected him. Yet, most still seem to support him now. That's what baffles me, somewhat.

  • Sixty percent isn't enough, especially considering how many groups he's abused over the past year. It's amazing to me that anyone not in on the take still supports him. Amazing, but not surprising. Not anymore.

  • Is that really his brain and not-spinal cord?

  • Point a gun at armed guards, and you're going to have a bad day. Assuming, that is, that what they said is what actually happened. They may have lied and this is not what happened at all, and we'll never know. Cops have been known to do that, shocking, I know.

  • Due to an inheritance of barely-enough money, I got to retire at age 55. I might need to go back to work in a few years, I don't know yet. But, I've very much enjoyed doing practically nothing even though I'd like to have enough to travel, etc. which I don't. I do miss the collaboration on solving problems, but I don't miss the raft of other bullshit "office politics" that goes along with that. The one does not make up for the other, not even close. Neither do I miss putting aside my occasional moral misgivings about a project in exchange for money. Nor do I miss watching the boss/owner make obviously stupid decisions and then watching the fallout, after not listening to me or anyone else.

Finding a perfect job is not going to happen for the vast majority of us. We make do with what we can get, and often that causes long-term stress that is unhealthy.

What desire I have to "be useful" or "contribute" and the pleasure I sometimes got from a job well done pales in comparison to the daily stress of working. Even low-level long-term stress takes a big toll over time. And, none of us are compensated nearly enough in money or time off to mitigate that.

People want to work, and want to contribute and collaborate, and feel useful. But, the work society we've allowed to be set up for us is not for that. It's for wringing every last second of useful to-the-rich effort out of us, while compensating us at the minimum level we'll accept without chopping their heads off, with the rest going to them. Generation after generation for the past 80 years, they've been compensating us less and demanding more. Now we're close to being virtually enslaved, owning nothing and working to barely survive, assuming we're healthy enough to do so, otherwise being discarded.

  • How long have you worked there?

How long have they been in business?

Is the business stable and well-ran? Do you even know?

  • The unicorn job.

  • Okay, you do you.

  • No matter the justification they give, it's always, ALWAYS actually about making the rich richer, and fuck the poor.

  • Since he illegally stole $1000 from me, I want it back.

  • It often skips a generation, like red hair.

  • They really need to ban phones for students in grade school.

"But, they need them for safety!"

How the hell did we ever get along without every kid having an internet connected computer in their pocket since forever before they were invented? No, they don't need them for "safety".

  • Welsh rarebit, a classic dish of cheese sauce on toast, with beer, mustard, and Worcestershire sauce.

All this cooked into a sauce, and ladled over toast, then broiled in the oven for a bit:

    ¼ cup butter

    ¼ cup all-purpose flour

    ½ teaspoon salt

    ¼ teaspoon pepper

    ¼ teaspoon dry mustard

¼ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce, or more to taste

2 drops Tabasco, or more to taste

    1 cup whole milk

    ½ cup beer

½ pound sharp Cheddar cheese, shredded

  • I suppose the ones who buy entire islands have a chance at raising their own food, and producing clean water, but the rest of them are vulnerable to an old fashion siege, to go along with their moat.

  • I model for my 3D printer in Blender, because that's what I know. I thought I might be missing something not using a parametric modeler, so I tried FreeCAD to reproduce one of my models. It was a struggle, but I got it done. The end product mesh was the same, though. There wasn't really any advantage for me, already knowing blender quite well, to switch to FreeCAD for my work. So, I stuck with Blender.
