I don't read DMs.

  • Having grown up on sci-fi I always knew there would be people who reject robots and AI on a visceral level. I just thought it wouldn't be me.

  • We all need to do this. I'd be raising hell if my kid were in school these days. He graduated in 2016, just before things got REALLY bad.

    I read /r/teachers, and I'm shocked that kids are being passed up through the grades who can barely read, and can't focus on anything at all for more than one minute. They're allowed to eat in class? Look at their phones? They get up and wander around, and even leave the classroom? WTF?

    "Sit down! Shut up! Put the damn phone away and pay attention!", is what I'd say right before I was fired from being a teacher, I suppose.

  • [In the US] If we can give a floating date to a "real" (but lame) holiday like Thanksgiving, there's no reason we can't do the same for Halloween and codify it as the last Friday/Saturday of October.

    The traditional reason for why it is when it is, doesn't need to be followed. We can start our own traditions. We're allowed to change things.

    Seems like there'd be more money spent on parties if it were always on Friday night. So, big business should get behind it.

  • I guess my combined 12TB across five drives ranging in age from 13 to six years old will have to suffice. The only reason I'd need to buy a new drive is if a couple of my current drives die. Which does happen on occasion, of course.

    Also, fuck AI, and the assholes who made it, and everyone who currently, personally profits off it. This bubble popping will be the catalyst to take down the entire world economy. MMW.

  • First they sell the fear, then they sell the "solution". Poor on poor crime is down to record lows. What's up is government crime on poors, that has skyrocketed.

    All these cameras do for the people who paid for them is provide a memento of the thing being stolen from the front yard. If you think you're going to show the video to a cop, and they're going to say, "Hey! I know that guy!", and then run off and retrieve your truck that's too big to fit in your garage, you are sorely mistaken.

    Also, if you install these things inside your house, you can bet dollars to donuts that someone is gooning to your antics. I mean, besides your dad.
