  • I'd agree that the dnc and rnc are two wings of the same bird. Hoooweeeever there absolutely is a less than, now instead of being in a situation where political pressure could have swayed foreign policy positions, we have a Cheeto fascist who gives not a single shit unless a situation enriches himself and is in addition to enabling Israel has begun committing his own human rights violations, attacks on the press, flagrantly pissing on the constitution etc.

  • Would you say that trumps policy on Gaza has made it better than if Harris had taken it? "Let it rip" seems to be his policy on the ethnic cleansing we're watching go down. Not to mention the wholesale abuse of civil liberties and dissent crackdown vastly more prevalent than it was under biden. I get it man, he let us all down, but i think the alternative is sooo much worse by comparison.

  • It seems like you missed the part where he ran for president and couldn't get there. Pragmatically it was either sleepy Joe or T-bag, so him endorsing Biden was less about him agreeing with DNC policy and more to prevent the return of trump. I can't understand how you don't understand that. Voting is damage control, and the U.S. population not voting for the lesser of two evils in this last cycle has now allowed a swollen, poorly painted, anthropomorphic, pus-filled wart to extort the entire nation and level its financial and military strength against the entire rest of the world. All that said, the biden/Harris admin was complicit in the worst humanitarian disaster that I've been alive for and none of that is okay.

  • Man, the criticisms are valid, and I'll even add to them because his pride in not stepping down sooner doomed what shreds of american democracy were left. That said, the best and largest climate bill ever passed by the US govt happened under him. Unions were bolstered and grew under him (not the train workers tho lol) and if nothing else, his victory let me not think about the fat orange cow for ten minutes. In so many ways, I pity and even kinda miss that sad sleepy bastard-- however much he floundered in almost every way. As a bonus his dogs hated government agents as much as I do, and got to bite them with impunity.

  • Showerthoughts @lemmy.world

I had a truly inspired "showerthought"

  • It's far funnier than it should be Your name is also perfect to have been the first to comment.

  • Cheesechain

  • What a bunch of bastards.

  • I am not sure proton was a thing yet and if it was I was certainly not aware haha nowadays I'm all tapped into that. also, even beyond steam, lutris and bottles have made it kind of a walk in the park. my goodness. I wickedly appreciate that offer and If I'm ever so stumped that i need a lifeline I may take you up on it. Lately my whole goal is to git gud and make it work myself. It's a journey and I'm getting way more confident in my ability to admin my own systems (and potentially anyone I can get to convert lol)

  • well man, I was scrambling looking for a terminal to actually do something and It was disabled in S mode O.o I will keep that in mind though should I ever be called to mess with another windows machine.

  • I guess I just didn't have the patience enough to even get that far with it haha All I could think of was the Netscape thing. It was sooo obvious when i opened edge and got halfway into typing "google chrome" when a giant banner pops up and says "you don't have to install another browser! please bro! Don't do it!"

  • preach it, the capture of people into software ecosystems is getting so out of hand. I was thinking about microsoft vs apple, and while they do the same shit at least it seems to work well lol

  • I hadn't either until last night. From what I gathered it disables the installation of any softwares that don't come from the microsoft store i.e. .EXE files for programs that were downloaded from the browser. Getting out of S mode is as easy as creating a microsoft account. I had no interest in that for a variety of reasons.

  • I think its rad that both exist. Fight me. I swap between the two constantly. Sometimes I buy/sell etsy type shit. Sometimes I buy/sell Escobar type shit. If all bigwig companies/politicians had to transact on a public ledger- good. If my broke ass can transact privately and immutably- also good. Some transactions, for the betterment of the world, should be public- and conversely, mine should be private lol

  • They can ban all they'd like. To your point it seems tantamount to stating that crime is illegal.

  • I model all of my UI choices off of old(er) school windows. I have a bar, the menu is left. I was a pirate before anything and I learned on windows. There was a point where it made sense that the world used it, I think that time has passed. I really am such a pleb that hardware issues only effect me if it doesn't work. In this I guess I am saying that the freedom to abuse and break my hardware is important. I don't want to sell my soul or be told "no". install the program, I know it was written for windows. I don't want a microsoft account.

Edit: my drunk ass had said older(er)

  • Linux @lemmy.ml

    dudes, I am linux pilled

  • I'm a waiter, that one Saturday could be 25% of my monthly income. It should be a national holiday

  • I'd look into graphene or calyx, they're privacy oriented android roms. the websites have lists of supported devices. I usually get a refurbished pixel a few generations old and use it until it literally falls apart
