  • It’s not a great place to be. Intel and other major corporations buy political influence. Politicians act in the best interests of their benefactors, and for most, that’s not the voters. I don’t think it’s practical either, but maybe there’s some use in including these kinds of political ideas when these things happen, as a reminder that they wield political influence.

  • Personally, I’m against the death penalty not because these kinds of people don’t deserve it, but our justice system can not adequately ensure other people with the same charges have actually done the crime, and there are many people within the system that can’t be trusted with that nuance. People can’t be trusted with giving out the death penalty.

    The Sept. 24 execution of Midwest Innocence Project and Innocence Project client Marcellus Williams, an innocent Black man in Missouri, should leave a deep scar on the conscience of the nation. The fact that another innocent man, Robert Roberson, faces execution on Oct. 17 in Texas for a crime that never occurred, should give us all pause.
