  • The only thing tariffs do is raise the price of imported and exported goods. The intent behind that is to encourage domestic production of a given good. However, we largely do not have domestic production of many, many, many different goods in the USA. So the primary outcome is going to be a decade or more of much higher prices for literally every single kind of consumer, business or industrial grade electronic device or good. It's terrible for the economy. It will lead to a record recession or even a depression. Tariffs do not punish the target country. They punish Americans attempting to buy from those countries. This means new start-ups and new businesses will not be able to afford things from third-party manufacturers in China.

They harassed poll workers and volunteers whose entire purpose is to ensure everyone who is eligible to vote has everything they need in order to do so. Yet no one is batting a fucking eye. THESE FUCKERS STOLE THE ELECTION. 15 million less votes than what Biden got and Trump got about the same as he did when he ran before. This stinks of interference.

  • What evidence do you have that it would be cost-ineffective to pipe natural gas to only businesses? The only thing they do these days when someone opts out of using natural gas is turn off the valve at the street. The gas still flows to other businesses and neighbors. It doesn't matter what Berkeley does because Oakland, Richmond, Hayward and every other town or city around Berkeley is not going to ban the use of natural gas. It's a non-starter. It's pointless to do.

  • The mommy knows best attitude that this law comes from is why Berkeley is so frequently made fun of in so many places. You guys have your heads so far up the darkest depths that you can't see that this doesn't offer any sort of meaningful change in the overall problem with climate change. 3% reduction in methane emissions is nothing when every other city and town in the state is still burning gas for heating and cooking. You may as well throw shovelfuls of sand on a raging inferno. Not saying you shouldn't do anything but this is just dumb.

  • Propane doesn't offer the benefits you seem to think it does. It's more expensive and the distribution system for it likely has as many issues as the natural gas does. Going after natural gas distribution while we still have larger and more significant sources of emissions is a minuscule bandage solution at best. At worst it solves a very minor source of emissions problems at a major cost in both money and convenience.

  • If it was at a Kill Tony show or a comedy show then it would literally just be someone making dumb jokes. At a political rally it takes on a whole different meaning. It’s leading the audience to think a certain way. Not everyone at those rally’s is actually paying attention to anything other than big talking points. Saying a whole island of people are garbage is a pretty leading thing to say. It leads the audience to feel their racism is confirmed.
