  • They link all their sources. So regardless of where their funding comes from I'd rather have a good source of information instead of a non-existent perfect source.

  • "I'm going to watch half the movie then complain about it not making sense and having a bad ending"

  • Hydropower can only be built in specific locations. Coal can be built anywhere, renewables are somewhere in between.

  • My understanding is that the "built by slaves" theory is a bit outdated. The pharaoh had access to a massive population and outside of harvest stations could be engaged in construction efforts. Slaves were very likely part of it too but not the majority of the workforce

  • Considering your grammar maybe you should sleep a bit more

  • You take OPs words as the truth, no one has ever lied or bent the truth on the internet!

Not that I'm saying they are lying but you never know. The test will clear up any uncertainty and OP shouldn't feel any shame about it

  • It doesn't have to be about shaming. You obviously know who the mother is but the father isnt definitive until a test and with such a serious situation it's always good to be certain.

  • ask questions I’ve already given the answer to

You have given a vague idealistic vision, not an answer.

    ending imperialism and colonialism

And how exactly would that happen? Id like you to elaborate if you have any ideas

  • All the comments I've read in this thread I've seen multiple times on Reddit lol

  • Ok, so just wishful thinking then. The problem is we live in the present, not some utopian future.

Ask yourself, why is there no need to criminalize immigration between states/provinces within a country such as the US?

Now you're just copying my comment and changing the timeframe lol.

Can you elaborate on how you think turning the world into a utopia would be achievable?

  • How would you limit immigration without creating laws and stopping people when too many arrive?

Freedom of movement is good in a vacuum but not feasible in our current world. The best would be if developed countries could uplift those that arent and the need for people to move would be reduced.

  • That's not the Reddit I've experienced, I've seen lots of anti-israel posts and comments with lots of upvotes.

Here on Lemmy though I got banned because I disagreed with someone calling North Korea democratic. It was .ml tho and their echo chamber couldn't handle the difference of opinion.

  • It was not my intent to say it was amateurish or childish, just less effort required, without a value judgement.

Perhaps you'll find this one more fitting: compare a single story house and a skyscraper. You can prefer one or the other, both can be beautiful, both require skill and expertise to construct but one is obviously more complicated and expensive to make.

  • I absolutely agree, compare the amount of skill and effort that goes into a 2d platformer versus something like red dead redemption 2.

It's like comparing a school play versus an opera, the amount of passion they put in might be the same or often way more but the opera is aiming higher and with a bigger budget.

That's not to say that an opera is necessarily more enjoyable, just that the tickets are justifiably more expensive

  • How do you switch? Is it a different app? I'm using boost atm for Lemmy

  • I'd argue NK and Florida are on different levels of democratic but I see your point.

You're probably right with your last paragraph. I do find it amusing to read when they bend backwards trying to defend something that absurd.

  • Outside of the conservative American subreddits that's standard too though. I rarely see anyone (not downvoted to hell) claim Israel should continue

  • People claim Lemmy is supposed to be "better" than Reddit but so far I've encountered more petty barons here than Reddit

  • Some people likely deserve getting banned but they have a very fragile echo chamber if they need to ban anyone not toeing the party line.

I was in an argument with someone on .ml unironically calling north Korea democratic and then they banned me because apparently I'm a "chauvinistic westerner" when I disagreed. I found that pretty hilarious.
