I guess it’s already somewhat protected, but it would be a nice show of solidarity amongst the western blue states. From that same article:
“Colorado Gov. Jared Polis has directed health officials to ensure access to updated COVID-19 vaccines. The state’s Chief Medical Officer Dr. Ned Calonge issued an order to allow pharmacists to provide COVID-19 vaccines without individual prescriptions. The order takes effect on Friday.”
It’s slightly academic, but check out Eric Berne’s “Games People Play” about Transactional Analysis theory. There’s a short series on YouTube by a user called TherminTrees (a little cheesy and dated looking) that can give you a quick intro if you’re not sure what it’s all about. Its concepts really helped me.
Yes, usually you have to hand wash silk, lace, satin, things with beads, pearls, etc. in special detergent and hang them to dry. It’s a bit of an annoying task outside of doing regular laundry.
It’s usually multiple sources. The number varies, but generally between 3-20 depending on the subject matter. There are different settings you can change depending on whether you want to be in “research” mode. You still need to be mindful, but the links are there in the native platform most of the time.
Within GPT it does provide direct links to sources, but when it’s embedded outside of the native platform, maybe not. I mostly use it for finding hard to locate items, so I’m frequently following the links and they’re usually correct. That being said, yeah, if you’re using it for anything “serious” double and triple check info.
You’re likely thinking of this quote from a 1981 BBC interview in the series The Pleasure of Finding Things Out:
“I have a friend who’s an artist and has sometimes taken a view which I don’t agree with very well. He’ll hold up a flower and say, ‘Look how beautiful it is,’ and I’ll agree. Then he says, ‘I as an artist can see how beautiful this is, but you as a scientist take this all apart and it becomes a dull thing.’
I think he’s kind of nutty. First of all, the beauty that he sees is available to other people and to me too, I believe. Although I may not be quite as refined aesthetically as he is … I can appreciate the beauty of a flower.
At the same time, I see much more about the flower than he sees. I could imagine the cells in there, the complicated actions inside, which also have a beauty. I mean it’s not just beauty at this dimension, at one centimeter; there’s also beauty at a smaller dimension.
The fact that the colors in the flower evolved in order to attract insects to pollinate it is interesting — it means that insects can see the color.
It adds a question: does this aesthetic sense also exist in the lower forms? Why is it aesthetic? All kinds of interesting questions which the science knowledge only adds to the excitement, the mystery and the awe of a flower. It only adds.
I started playing this morning. The environment is very cute and the mechanics are kind of hilarious. I spent half the time dragging my kid around and getting his head stuck in the snow, or spinning him around on the ice. I highly recommend checking it out if you’re looking for some lighthearted, artistic fun.
First of all there are real risks to boiling water in the microwave, but I get why most people ignore them. Second of all, not ALL of us have microwaves (I don’t), third of all, it’s not “one more thing” if it’s an appliance used every day for multiple reasons. You seem to have an odd hate towards kettles.
I’ve used one for ages, it especially helps when boiling water on the stove. I heat it in the kettle first and then pour it in the stove pot. So much faster!
Helps curb the sedentary lifestyle epidemic as well! I’m all for it. Think of the senator’syards interesting natural locations where you could hide caches.
I’ll be the first to admit that in no way have I been even close to perfect in terms of doing all the doctor recommends, but I do cook 90% of my meals at home from actual ingredients, drink a lot of water, have a great group of close friends who like to get out and do stuff, and generally continue to stay active mentally and physically. I don’t have kids, so from what I hear that may help somewhat with sleep patterns. I definitely stay out too late on occasion, and probably drink too much alcohol, but am at a normal, healthy weight, and have good checkup numbers. So yeah, just that same old damn boring stuff…eat right, stay active, stretch, strength train, drink lots of water. Lame, but effective.
I will say, there was a time in my life when I was very unhappy with my job and location, so I sacrificed a lot to move across the country (to Denver) to pursue the lifestyle I thought was best for me. I was dead broke, and it sucked for a while, but ultimately, it was well worth the challenges and I feel like I got an extended youthfulness by doing that.
Best of luck to you…every time I have an injury, it renews my appreciation for trying my best to stay healthy.
I really hope Colorado gets on board too.
