  • The AI surveillance state requires more data. It wasn't just US states, and UK. It's Australia and EU. Either they all indepently come up with the same shit idea, or it's lobbying. I've noticed in the UK when a child dies due to something related to the internet, they mention some tech legislation that would prevent this. It's like the lobbyists are manipulating folk at their worst to push this shit. It's dark AF.

  • Don't let perfect get in the way of good.

The fact you say ban advertising probably shows you have gone a bit on the extreme side. Ban cruise ships? If you shift all recreational air travel to cruise travel, it'll offset a big chunk of impact. Remove petrol cars, private jets, electrify rail, improve public transport, invest in solar, wind, geothermal, tidal, nuclear, move consumption from red meat to white meat and you'll take a big chunk out of it, review, and take further steps if needed.

You seem to have swallowed the propaganda that consumers are responsible, not corporations. You let them off the hook and lost faith. What follows is resignation that we fail and no further steps. That's failure. We have to turn this ship around and the turning circle is big, let's start now and put a full lock on.

People used plastic straws, then they replaced with paper. Less single use plastic heading to landfill. Did consumer change anything? No. The law changed, companies adapted and people through the same actions cut environmental impact, if just by a small amount. Demand side argument does not stand well. It plays a factor, but it isn't the only one.

  • Lol. Java used to be ahead. Now Bedrock is. Anyone that knows about MC knows MS is pushing it and secretly cannot wait for Java to be less popular so they can end it.

The joke is because it could very well be true or certainly plausible.

MS did not make MC. They bought it and most who've played historically have seen the degradation since.

    Are you a MS fanboy?

  • I understand to some extent. We often in life have events that shock or unsettle us. Maybe you're still grieving for the loss of the parents you remember. Coming to terms with who they actually are now.

Politics is ugly and not nice right now. The world may feel a lot safer than it once was. It is out of our hands. We just have to learn to operate in that new world. We have to focus on the things we can control and make the best decisions we can in the circumstances. Are you in contact with the parent that left? Is there no possibility for you to live with that parent if you connect with them better. It could be that they left their spouse, not you.

Focus on the things in life you enjoy. It may not be everything but those moments of joy can give us energy during harder times.

I cannot really comment on the therapist situation. I don't know if there is a real risk to you and you cannot go into it. Trust is important in therapy, so that could be tricky.

As you are a young adult, maybe focus on your future, your life, what you want your life to be and think of what steps you need to take and what decisions you need to make to start heading down that path. You have agency and many choices in that so you can hopefully feel power in your control of that.

Forgive yourself that you feel unsettled though. It is normal and natural for things to affect us in life and it takes time to process it and move on. Allow yourself slack to be able to do that in your time.

Oh, and your parent is responsible for the decisions they make and the choice to listen. It may feel good for them to blame the other. Maybe they saw who this person was long ago and just could not continue with it.

  • Please write code for us, so we can focus on Bedrock?

  • They look really nice. The poblano looks a bit thick for my tastes. Would prefer jalapeno, but other than that really good.

For extra delicious but unhealthy, frying the buns in the same pan in the fats after both sides until toasted is chef's kiss.

  • I personally wouldn't touch Purism. I read some pre-ordered and then requested refunds. They allegedly said they'd do it at a certain time, and apparently when it got to it, did not refund, and secretly changed terms and conditions.

I would not touch with barge pole.

I own a Pinephone and like it, but it was very immature, dated and not ready. I wanted the Pinephone Pro, but I think it still needed a lot of work.

I'm currently using GrapheneOS. I share your enthusiasm, but need a basic phone to do basic phone things like call or text and Linux phones are not always reliable for that.

  • In reality, not everyone quits and your pay didn't move. Only way to improve your pay is often move and negotiate.

If you stay, you can do 200% of the work and hope there is a role and they appreciate your work. Or just sell your experience to a company that definitely has that role available.

  • Examples of countries that have had territory invaded that run elections? I asked for examples because I'd love to see real world examples and not fictional examples from inside someone's head...

  • So you assumed I'm an American liberal...

Firstly, I'm not American. I live in Europe. So fail one. Secondly, I'm a Socialist, so fail two. Fuck liberalism, and screw America, but ultimately, that doesn't mean you have to swallow everything the enemies of American push. Oh, and I'm on Lemmy because I haven't touched Reddit in a while. You're the weirdest leftie that is still actively on an enshittified right-wing hell hole and the projection is real crazy. You cannot demand critical analysis from Americans, and fail in it yourself.

Oh, btw, Russia is capitalist, with many, many billionaires. The proletariat are not reaping the benefits of their exploitation.

I live in a world where you can be anti-captalist and not shilling for Russia.

Let's go back to basics though, if you have a source saying something, you have to ask who said it, and whether they have a motive. Russia Today is the Russian state broadcaster. It's a really dreadful source to use to understand a war Russia are currently in. I'd suggest you'd find a less biased source, but not too many of them are pushing Russian propaganda.

I'm really curious. How do you run polling stations, where you have to advertise to the public where they are, and to come there, and protect yourself from drone and missile strikes? I really want to understand how you can run elections where you're being invaded. Can you help me out here? Any examples?

I get really annoyed with Libtards throwing around terms like "tankies" but you're really kind of walking the ball into your own net (football reference) when you're shilling this hard for Russia.

  • RT? As in Russia Today? Complaining that the country they invaded isn't holding local elections while they're bombing the shit out of it?

Weirdly, no one has commented on straight up Russian propaganda.

Not many countries hold elections during an active war.

  • Because you disagree with them, they're not credible?

  • There was a really good BBC documentary on this 6 years ago which takes a look in one of the facilities from both and official visit and visiting unannounced. Also using satellite footage to demonstrate changes made prior to journalist visits...

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WmId2ZP3h0c

    High recommend watching it.

  • You get AC? You're lucky if you get a meaningful title...

  • Yeah. That one triggered me.

  • Healthy and diverse.

That bacon is positively carbon... Gone past the point of crispy (and I love crispy bacon).

  • Is there a reasonable source for this?

It sounds plausible, but wanted to dig deeper.

  • You do realise they only run one server? All the others will be free of their direct influence.
