This is somewhat unconfirmed information but I became privy to it from someone I trust. He told me they don’t care about the phone itself, but its contents. After the phone is snatched they need to rush to deliver it to someone who does the cracking. They pay the snatcher some sum (I heard $100-$200) if they deliver the phone before it gets bricked and then they proceed to steal all the finances they can from it. They either buy crypto and transfer it or just send the money to a dummy bank account that they withdraw from. Another rumor I heard is that they have insiders who do the phone unlocking for them and then those phones get shipped to China where there’s a black market for western phones as they’re not locked down like the domestic versions. Again, none of this is confirmed with a verified source, but it sort of makes sense when you think about it, as even parts in modern phones are serialized, so selling phones for parts only isn’t really an option anymore.
Not sure why you’re downvoted when you’re absolutely right and Mamdani proved it too. People are suffocating under the economic pressure, they consider other issues less important until that one is resolved.
I’m gonna be devil’s advocate here for a moment. I followed Mamdani’s campaign closely and I think he nailed it on the spot. You had two politicians running whereas one lied that he’ll reduce prices and make America great again and the other.. did nothing for the most part. From the eyes of the average voter Kamala promised nothing but the status quo, and they wanted change. That’s how Dem strongholds flipped red during this election and how a lot of them went back to blue for the mid term elections. If she told her donors to get stuffed and worked for the working class instead of exploiting the working class she would’ve won.
What a mess we live in. Both options will fuck you over, only one of them will do it with lube.
Say what you want about Amazon, these were a decent deal. You could find a guy on your local marketplace that would sell one of these fire sticks preloaded with a custom IPTV app that had a bunch of channels for about £20-£40 permanently, no reoccurring cost.
If you got one before the police started cracking down on them you’re golden.
Don’t mean to burst your bubble but if you’ll look at what the founders of Google are saying today you’ll find that they’re on par with Googles current leadership. Then again, we can’t know if they were like this from the start or if it’s just the wealth and power and corrupted them.
Not necessarily, if you follow proper hosting etiquette, then even if they break in they should only be a standard user and have no access to the rest of your system. But most self hosters just run everything as root as it’s less of a hassle.
Moving your port over to a nonstandard one is not a solution (unless the problem you experience is too many logs from sshd, and even then, logrotate exists), its security by obscurity which doesn’t really solve anything at all. Only way your server will be safe is by ensuring the packages on your server are up to date and that you harden it to the point where it isn’t too much of nuisance.
I don’t think L1/PlayReady SL3K will happen. Imagine Google telling people that in order to view content on their website they need to use a competitor’s browser. Sure, technical people like you and I understand what’s happening behind the scenes, but average joe will just think Google fumbled it and can’t make it work with their own browser, it’s bad press for them. I also think that at least for now there’s too many desktop users to be able to pull it off. They’ll have to tell all the desktop users to go fuck themselves in order to do that, and that will get a good amount of people pissed off.
It is aimed at members (often new)of private trackers, a hobby which often assumes you’ve already got a 170tb NAS at home that just needs content to fill it. This is evidenced by the fact they inherit HDBs “golden popcorn” system and tier their groups pretty high up.
Be the change you want to see in the world
