  • I think I figured out why Todd Howard seems to have tried to make Fallout die; he never wanted to buy Fallout, but was pressured by Zenimax into purchasing a second IPin case The Elder Scrolls ever fails.

Fallout has always been a backup to The main Elder Scrolls games in case he makes a mistake. If Fallout succeeds in a massive way, there is a chance he will have to start giving it more resources than his own pride and joy.

It's classic step-parent mentality. The suits made him into a step parent, so he managed a quick skin over oblivion and just copied bits and pieces of the first games stories like a high school student copying a book report from a book he never read. He didn't really care about the substance from the previous games, but there was a lot of old concept art they could mash up and the 50's aesthetic meant they could save a lot of money on licensing fees for music.

Then is sold big and ruined his chances for quietly making the story go away. But Skyrim was a huge success which should have made the idea of a second IP unnecessary. So, they decided to focus on their new game and let a company known for doing cheap sequels for other game companies IP.

Personally I wonder if Todd Howard was actually paying attention to who Obsidian had on staff, or if he just wanted a company who was willing to take the millstone from his neck so he could focus on the game he really wanted to make. The reason I think that Todd didn't know who Obsidian were is because of how he treated the next company who he let play with the Fallout IP.

Fallout 76 was the only other title made by a mostly outside developer. I say mostly, because they were a newly acquired studio who had no real experience. Which led to a failure in Fallout 76 from launch. Compare that to how ESO was put together. It was built by Zenimax Online a core studio designed just for an online MMO Elder Scrolls game. They weren't forced to use the single-player Gamebryo/Creation Engine. It was designed as it's own online game.

Fallout has been consistently designed to fail, which is why Microsoft should just remove it from Bethesda and get someone who understands the story and is willing to follow the real story Canon make new games. We're in this issue because Todd Howard has been forced to work on Fallout, which is amazing how even with him trying the screw it up, we still enjoy the Fallout world.

  • They just want private Corporate Gestapo. Which is totally better than Government run Gestapo. Private "Corporations" always make the right choices.

  • I wish Microsoft would force Bethesda to share their toys with other people.

Todd Howard is the epitome of the egotistical rich wannabe need who takes his toys away if someone does something better than he does.

Gamers love Obsidian's rushed bullied New Vegas better than 3, make sure they never get another chance to let someone else into their sandbox.

They try to copy Mass Effect's dialog system and voiced protagonist to do "something new" it backfires. Fallout 4 has no real tied story to it besides a few lines from a single quest from Fallout 3. The Factions are a copy and paste job based around an AI system so they don't have to write content.

I find it wasetul of Microsoft that they Purchased a studio and IP worth Billions and will allow them to gather dust for over a decade without any ROI? Why aren't they starting to force Bethesda to make something with the Fallout IP.

InXile should at least be allowed to remaster Fallout 1. They have Brian Fargo still there to oversee it. It all reminds me of Doctor Who taking a break when they were at their peak popularity, then coming back after losing most of their fans.

  • Except only idiots drink nonpasteurized milk so it won't spread to the general population. Or we already would have had a pandemic.

Using our standard protocols works, no need to fear.

  • Right thanks. Always switch numbers around.

  • It's not about affordability at all. The people that are willing to loan the US money are only willing to loan the US money for guns and bullets to go to Israel, money to Ukraine is good as long as its for more guns and bullets because weapons have a great ROI. Healthcare for all in the US has poor ROI so there is no point t to it. People are replaceable here in the US. That's why they're trying to push through AI way too early on us all.

With the coming Grant's Pass Supreme Court decision to legalize slavery against homeless people coming soon, who needs regular employees. Just CCI Prison Slaves for all your manual labor needs. Also, all the former abolitionist states have now passed total gun control legislation so people will no longer be able to break out their slave family members from their prison worksites.

I never wanted to actually live in the Cyberpunk 2020 world. I was just hoping for some of the bonuses instead of all of the negatives.

  • Iran should have plenty of material for a dirty bomb from their joint Russian reactor project many many years back. The problem is that the US can fingerprint Uranium to where it was mined after a blast due to each mine having their own set of impurities based on the region the material came from.

If the he material used in the peaceful electrical reactor project ends up in a bomb, it could be used as Casus Belli for a Nuclear Reaponse against Iran and Russia by Israel and the US.

  • So back to slavery, just legal 14th Amendment slavery of homeless prison slaves.

Isn't this the greatest country on earth. /s

  • I'm wondering when the time will come to start turning into modern John Brown's, or will the Billionaires have succeeded in outlawing all guns before people wake up?

The modern gun control movement has been bankrolled by Billionaires for decades and used the media to sit fear of guns so that their control will never be overthrown.

Every pleb is a consumer who must slave and consume.

  • Which is very helpful when their security carries guns and won't be near grappling range.

If the collapse comes, all the rich people will be booted outside their nice bunkers and starve.

  • I really wish it was this easy to get the meds I actually need. I've been dealing with Chronic Pain for over 20 years now and still can't get enough meds to function as a normal person.

  • I gave my Index to my son who has the time and physicality to use it. I'm just too old for action gaming now.

I would have loved it if I was 30 years younger. I can do more from a chair with my desktop PC than an Apple Vision Pro can. It's just another Apple Con.

  • My guess is that repair costs are higher because they have to be sent out for expensive repairs because the car software is locked down so they cannot repair them in-house.

That's what the future is coming to with cars. No more fixing with your own parts at home.
