  • Are you?

  • The only real software engineer anymore is Linus Torvalds, everyone else stands on the shoulders of giants.

  • I always wondered why it was required to accept any interference received. Just so the government can fuck with your shit if they want?

  • WiFi isn't as safe as they apparently think it is lol

If the SSID you connect to is unique enough, there's a site that can literally pinpoint your location. If you have any other SSIDs around you, it's basically guaranteed. That's why there's a bunch of apps that log the SSIDs around you, to get your location without having to ask.

That's not even considering the entire rest of WiFi that's not anonymous

  • Like with certain Supreme Court justices, when somebody with a lot of power needs money, somebody is always there to provide it.

  • I think you mean Christmas

  • Their business is advertising and Android is how they track an insane number of users. Like Chrome, they'll never kill it, it's far too valuable to them.

  • Haha a DS or iPod, not a Nintendo Switch or smart phone.

Welcome back to 2024, time travelers.

  • It's not quite as interesting as you might hope:

On November 12th, 2012, YouTuber LifeAccordingToJimmy posted a video titled "Don't Stop the Music," a skit based on the awkward moments caused when the music stops at a party and a story one is telling is overheard by others. In the sketch, the music stops as the main character says something particularly strange, causing the partygoers to stare at him. The video gained over 4.2 million views (shown below).

  • Well, starships don't usually need to worry about rain storms

  • The command line mail is used for checking local system mail that crontab outputs to by default, so it seems reasonable that results could get muddled. Luckily I know how to use a search engine so that's unlikely.

  • I seriously doubt people looking for cron are going to be confused by a calendar app.

Help guys, every time I go to look up the mail command, the fucking USPS shows up.

  • They renamed it Notion calendar, but Cron had pretty solid SEO. I much preferred its old name and theme.

  • Cron. They didn't shut it down though, they just suddenly transitioned it. I'd just started using Cron when they did it and it was very unexpected for me.

  • No, you're not, but the circle jerk here is definitely against discord.
