  • If anyone has the capital (both political and monetary) and the ability to execute, Narcos certainly do. Assuming they aren't obsessed with greed, if they made some sort of public announcement saying that they are patriots and would not only boycott US markets but would engage with other producers to stop their own shipments, I would love to see the fall out. I suspect it wouldn't be visible. After all, I suspect that most cocaine drug users in the US aren't the most reliable voting contingent.

But it would be fun to see how Trump reacts to it.

  • It's almost as if someone figured out that conservatives, in an effort to feel the need to play the victim, will react negatively and thus be more engaged when presented with non-conforming news.

A sort of dissonance.....that happens cognitively.

    Note that this isn't a one-to-one guide.

Some have a minimum storage amount but with 12 TB you're fine.

I think cloudflare may be the most cost effective since they don't have egress costs like AWS.

  • Wouldn't it be SACO? Sinclair Always Chickens Out?

  • The problem is that sovereign citizens try to do this in the wrong way. They often appear pro se in court with little to no research on how to actually argue their case.

I'm not an attorney but based on my understanding of current jurisprudence, here's what you need to do to avoid taxes:

    • Be rich. Like obscenely rich.
    • Hire accountants and attorneys to align your income and assets into corporations.
    • borrow against those assets, listing them as part of your collateral, and then use the money to live your life.
    • if you get into trouble, say that it was the corporation, not you, making those decisions. Remember that corporations are people.
    • if the corporation gets charged, bankrupt the corporation until it has negative assets and the shutter it.

    That's it.

I would argue that corporations actually have more rights than citizens or even religious organizations. The only thing they can't do is vote. Companies can literally murder people and pay a fine.

  • I didn't know alcohol could get pregnant.

  • I'm okay with the death penalty in cases like treason or insurrection.

When it's clear that they committed the crimes.

    In broad daylight.

    For everyone to see.

    On live television.

With absolutely no doubt that they are guilty.

  • He said he'd provide the "deciding vote", which I read as "Whatever Trump wants."

I will eat my shoe if he votes to released it.

  • I feel like Charlie Kirk is the xkcd of the right.

For some asshole political stance, there will be a Kirk quote.

I know this one is fake....but is it?

  • Basically they are on the top part of the Peter skin chart.

  • I pray you're flying private. Unfortunately not.

EFF's guide is outdated for fascism times, certainly. There is no guarantee that even citizens will be granted entry.

  • It's only treason if he gets punished for it.

  • It used to be, that's the crazy thing. The whole crunchy granola "I don't want to poison my kid" started out as a leftist principle. And to a certain extent, it sort of made sense.

But Republicans fed the conspiracy theory part and it blew up like wildfire.

It is equal parts fascinating and terrifying just how much the Republican party has fed the anti-vax people.

  • "Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect."

  • "Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect."

  • That's often my reply. "well we haven't tried it yet. We've tried trickle down economics for almost 4 decades. Why don't we try a wealth tax for 20 years? You know, for science? Just to see how it works. THEN if it doesn't work, we can roll it back. How does that sound?"

  • There is an entire Behind the Bastards series on people who shilled the anti-vax rhetoric.

Robert makes the point that for the anti-vax crowd, it's the idea that "you are a bad parent and that's why your kids got autistic" is worse than "vaccines gave your kids autism".

It's even worse when you add genetics to the mix because now parents have to believe something made their kids this way instead of something they had no control into.

The absolutely wild thing is that anti-vax used to be a largely liberal stance but with the added conspiracy theories, it swung over to the right.

So, TL;DR: parents are assholes who don't want to face reality that their child is not what they wanted them to be and would rather not have the burden of raising them and blame something else.

  • Tbf, and I wish this was more obvious to me back then, a lot of rank and file conservatives often need "marching instructions" like "what is the message we (conservatives) need to say about this incident?"

I didn't realize I did this until something really confusing happened. I can't remember what it was but I remember the deafening silence from Fox News and other "lead" conservatives.

I stayed a conservative until around Trump's initial primary bid. When I realized that conservatives would rather vote this guy in over much more experienced politicians, I realized that their criticism of Obama not having enough experience was a bunch of bullshit.

  • Yeah that's my preferred app now.

  • There is this repeating ad on Sync for Lemmy which pisses me off to no end. They are for various women's jewelry and the angle of the pictures make the image look very different than what it actually is.

Stopped using it recently just now because of this.
