  • While relying on foreign tech is a massive risk, for a developing China lacking the firms to produce home-grown software and tech products, using foreign made products was essentially the only choice. China couldn’t just reject foreign products if they possessed no viable alternative.

    Now that the infrastructure and technical base to produce Chinese software is in place, the reliance is moot and can be done away with.

    This is also meant more for businesses, smaller firms, and lower level bureaucratic apparati, as I have no doubt that the Chinese military, political apparati, and other institutions, made the change long ago, while Joe-Schmo app developer or Xi-Biao small tech firm owner went with whatever option was readily available or cheaper.

  • True, but there isn’t much of a society left. Productive forces don’t really exist beyond artisanal and sustenance production, and neither does organized or capitalist modes of production. There isn’t anything to really organize, let alone lead.

    They live in commune societies where the collective own the means of production, reject money, they attempt to elevate tribal groups through education, they’re anti-fascist and only maintain a tenuous relationship with the liberal NCR, and attempt to recruit through their outreach.

    Society tetters between tribal and early feudal at best, and even then barely. What is a socialist to do in a “society” like that? Volunteer outreach is all that’s left, not like there’s much to do a “revolution” against.

  • Lysenko’s claims are in no way vindicated by epigenetics and that is a blatant misunderstanding of Lysenko's thesis and how epigenetics function.

    Lysenko’s fundamental claim was that genes do not exist, and that heredity was not based on any specific dedicated molecular mechanism within a given organism. Instead, the argument was that traits could spontaneously be developed in previous generations of an organism and passed down to subsequent generations without mediation. Epigenetics is merely a form of gene expression. Genes that already existed within the organism and were merely expressed as a result of environmental factors "reawakening" dormant genes, or evolution favoring certain individuals within a population who expressed certain traits or held the capacity to.

    Here is a Chinese article demonstrating the usage of epigenetics to influence cold resistance within rice crops. Notice how the study both upholds the existence of genes and provides direct evidence of genes functioning as the dedicated molecular mechanism of heredity traits. The fact that environmental stimuli influence gene expression does not in any capacity uphold the Lamarckist claim that genes do not exist.

    Where did I say that art is reserved for some high artisan class? It’s reserved for the masses, for everyone, that’s the entire point behind everyone being able to do it.
