  • Can someone do a quick ELI5 on who the bad guys are here? So much crazy shit going on all over the world I'm having trouble keeping up with who the fascists are.

  • I use white electrical tape. It drastically reduces the light brightness but allows enough though to know the light is on.

  • Thank you for being more articulate in your explanation of the age issue than I was. I agree whole heartedly. 64-65 is retirement age, I like to see presidents that are experienced but not at what would normally be the end of their working years.

Personally, I'd like to see a max cap for ALL elected officials at 70.

  • Old, yes, they are both old. Not elderly, but old. The minimum age for a present is 35. I would very much like to start seeing younger presidents that will be more in touch with what current issues really are and can energize a younger generation of voters.

And yes that was exactly my point on having a white man as an anchor.

  • It is obviously a cycle we need to break. That said, a campaign has to make choices that lead to victory. Kamala is already a person of color and a woman. If she wins, it would be only the second time to have a non-white President and the first woman.

The fact is that while many us are hungry for change to the old norms, many will be more conservative to change (and I don't mean in the crazy MAGA way). Having an old white guy on the ticket acts as an anchor for those who are too scared to fully jump into all out change, ensuring that those votes aren't lost to the other side.

  • In a written statement to the police, she has alleged that her husband "chained her and left her in the forest to die without food or water".

Hey, look at that, "mystery" solved within four paragraphs.

  • Plus it is recycled. They would only replace what is lost due to evaporation or after a drain and cleaning.

  • Well, my opinion is that: 1. It is largely a popularity contest and Trump is still insanely popular with his crowd and Biden is not popular in general 2. The Maga crowd will certainly vote, so the Democrats would need to be united and show up to beat that. With any real doubt about Biden, I think a large enough to matter amount of Dems will either not vote or vote for other.

  • We are in a damned if you do damned if you don't situation. Three months ago I would have said Biden would most likely win by a very slim margin again. Now I would say there is a real chance for it to go the other way. However, replace him, and like you said that person is also very unlikely to win at this point.

  • What is the temperature in Barcelona right now? I would imagine getting hit with a water gun would feel pretty nice on a hot day of walking around doing touristy stuff.

  • I do. The same thing we have been doing with it this entire time storing it in underground bunkers. Unlike the propaganda, the waste from nuclear is rather small and unlike pollution from fossil fuel plants, it is easily contained however much longer living. The benefit still out weigh the cost of managing disposal. The reality is that there is plenty of uninhabited land on the planet where nuclear waste can be stored and isolated for thousands of years. One day, hopefully, we will have fusion power which won't generate waste. And perhaps, someday we will also figure out how to permanently disposal of the nuclear waste. In the mean time, storage is a fine solution that far out weighs polluting the atmosphere with burning things.

  • If all fossil fuel power plants were converted to nuclear then tech power consumption wouldn't even matter. Again, it was the oil industry that railroaded nuclear power as being unsafe.

  • Looks like somebody is itching to be a dictator.

  • My preference would be for them to flip the ticket. Put Kamala as first and him as vice. I don't really care for her, but it would be worlds better than another Trump reign of terror. Flipping the ticket would be the least destabilizing move and would appease the concerns of age while also keeping him on for those that didn't like her (or a woman).

  • Jokes on them, Pikachu would probably like being taxed.

  • Shocked Pikachu

  • An apt analogy.

  • It would seem the entire world is in a fascist death spiral. I'm not going to to be so grandiose as to say we are all completely fucked, but I will say this wave of fascism is going to likely stunt human progress for the next one-hundred years.

  • Kind of makes you wonder who she fucked to pass law school, huh? She seems to be genuinely dumb as a box of rocks.
