  • Let's say, for argument's sake, that they are falling in "ideal conditions" and it takes the person 2 days to die (they had the shits when they jumped) and a further two days to dry out. With a parachute open they could be falling at about 10mph (or possibly even slower as they lose further moisture!). 4 days at 10mph is 960 miles

The live person is the best person at skydiving to have ever lived, and spends most of the time not in the panels at 350mph (almost at the speed record). 960 miles at 350mph only takes 2.7 hours.

Maybe not so long after all?

My maths could be completely off though - haven't used it much in years.

  • Or how long the living guy would have to be free falling to catch up with the person who's a dessicated corpse?

  • Get ready for something they were doing 20 years ago?

  • Your healthcare providers are perversely incentivised to recommend scoping because it's an easy money maker, but for most people the discovery and removal of benign polyps is not worth the risks that come with an invasive procedure (IV stab to give sedation and pain relief, over sedation affecting tasks requiring concentration, complications due to the procedure itself).

  • Or that, and the colonoscopy is indicated by genetic testing.

  • Get your hearing/eyesight tested. Both can gradually get worse without people realising.

  • Don't schedule a colonoscopy unless you have symptoms of a GI disorder, or unexplained weight loss. The evidence does not support non-targeted screening programs.

  • I'm guessing the gloves are to avoid getting oils onto the metal, so there's no particular reason not to also wear jewellery over then.

Is the downvote because I'm wrong?

  • I don't think it's anything as sinister from the current government. I'm not saying it's a good idea, but they're more stupid and weak than they are totalitarian. British Labour has had an obsession with "tech" solutions for social issues since the start of the Blair years. Sometimes it works, but as often it's mired in incompetency and corruption.

I suspect that this recent spate of apparent puritanism is because they recognise that gender-based and sexual violence are "issues" after the discourse around Adolescence, but they can't/don't want to do anything actually meaningful (improve welfare, job opportunities, life prospects) so are latching onto what they believe are "easy" solutions. No-one with power actually understands how net infrastructure works, or cares about privacy as a principle, but they do have a group think that also leads them to think that this might make some inroads with "the right."

It's all absolute garbage being slapped together by career politicians who don't understand anything and are primarily interested either in their next election or their post-parliament careers.

  • The BBC has slowly been captured by Tory and right-wing heads who probably see capitulating as a valid option, and the Labour government is so limp that they would veto any serious retaliation from the BBC.

  • I work in biomedical research. We had an item delivered in a 40x40x40cm, dry ice container. It was a tiny vial smaller than my thumb.

    A very expensive, tiny vial.

  • Maybe the nazi instances are defederated

  • Read a comfort book/watch comfort show. You know it won't hit as hard, but it'll still be fun.

  • We get prints of photos of our daughter and from holidays for exactly this reason. Snapfish does pretty cheap prints, so although they're not amazing quality they'll still do for having a look through every now and then.

  • Unfortunately, my memory is pretty shit so I often forget how I fucked up when the situations come around again.
