  • I'm a pretty big generative AI hater when it comes to art and writing. I don't think generative AI can make meaningful art because it cannot come up with new concepts. Art is something that AI should be freeing up time in our lives for us to do. But that's not how it's shaping up.

However, AI is very helpful for understanding codebases and doing things like autocompletion. This is because code is less expressive than human language and it's easier for AI to approximate what is necessary.

  • Yep, anyone who assumes that the presence of a .cursor directory automatically means that:

    1. Developers are vibe coding
    2. The entire team is using cursor

Is either arguing in bad faith or has no idea what they're talking about.

It could be something as simple as one dev trying out cursor (an editor thats literally just a vscode fork with ai features) and accidentally committing their .cursor directory (really easy to do).

    what a mystery.

  • I think they know that most people will eventually give in (or accidentally say yes) if they have to close a notification every time they want to do something.

Like you, I aim not to be "most people."

  • Did you read the article?

This isn't some random company using azure to host an app. This is Microsoft dedicating a team of engineers to write a custom version of its software to track people on behalf of a genocidal government.

  • Also, could it be a 'the call is coming from inside the house " situation?

I think this is far more likely than China, North Korea, Iran or Russia having a sudden interest in St Paul Minnesota (a city that most people in the US don't even think about).

Who benefits more from the crippling of city-level liberal governments and stealing their data, Trump or China? If we see ICE conducting surgical raids within St Paul in the coming months, I think we'll have our answer.

  • And the popular vote has no influence on the outcome so who cares how narrow it was?

Like yeah, the electoral college sucks ass, but no one has gotten rid of it yet, so we have to play the game.

  • Wouldn't some sort of proxy in between the bucket and the client app solve this problem? I feel like you could even set up an endpoint on your backend that manages the upload. In other words, why is it necessary for the client app to connect directly with the bucket?

Maybe I'm not understanding the gist of the problem

  • Oh yeah, it was definitely was unsurprising given her record. But it was still unforgiveable.

  • when the Dems are releasing literal thank you letters to ICE for their work.

This, for me, was the moment when I went from "man, these people really suck as an opposition party" to "They're either incredibly incompetent or they're just straight-up controlled opposition."

You can't oppose Trump while thanking his Gestapo for their service. Fuck that.

It was just the same policies filtered through a PR agency.

This is how I've felt and haven't been able to put it into words. Harris could have curb stomped Trump if she had effectively distanced herself from rightwing policy. Her stance on immigration was unforgivable and served to normalize what Trump would eventually do.

  • For sure. Zionism itself is very anti-Semitic for that reason.

I was correcting a typo in the post above.

  • Zionism is not anti-semitism for a very simple reason, being against the apartheid state of Israel and its genocide of Palestinians has nothing to do with being against Jews or Judaism. They are seperate concepts period, end of story.

Judging by the rest of your comment, I think you meant anti-zionism is not anti-semitism.

With that said, I agree wholeheartedly.

  • Yep, everything is politics whether we like it or not.

  • Yeah him making it write an apology letter was next level. What a fuckin freak lmao

  • Yeah, for the record, I'm with you. My "charitable take" was more me trying to reverse engineer her worldview. But her worldview makes almost no sense sometimes.

Lately I've been honestly leaning towards "AOC is controlled opposition for the next generation of voters." I don't understand how she's the face of "the squad" but goes against the rest of them so often on these crucial issues.

Why would Israel only blame her specifically and not MTG and the others?

I do think that Israel has it out for the progressive wing of the Democratic party more than anyone else. I think they would center it around "the squad wants Jews to die." They've gone after Ilhan for less.

  • My charitable take: Her worry is that in the event of Iron Dome funding being cut off, Israel would run a massive propaganda campaign blaming AOC specifically for every death in Israel.

However, If she truly believes what she says, I think she's being very naive. The Iron Dome allows Israel to confidently bomb its neighbors without having to worry about consequences. No one is attacking Israel out of the blue (yes, that includes October 7th). Event the recent "war" with Iran was started by Israel.

The best defensive measures that Israel could take:

    1. Stop its apartheid and give every citizen equal rights
    2. Stop committing terror in the region (i.e. blowing up entire apartment buildings to kill one target, murdering all of the top scientists in a given country in their sleep, blowing up pagers of innocent doctors and surgeons in other countries, etc.)
    3. Surrender its current and former leadership to the ICC and allow them to face trial for their war crimes
  • I don't think he's "distracting" from anything. He's just doing a bunch of terrible things at the same time to maximize damage to social programs, infrastructure, and his political enemies. He doesn't care about what is or isn't "his call." He's testing the limits of his power and expanding it. Why would he need to distract from anything when he's never faced consequences for anything he's done before?

  • They're going to say it's a "distraction" and vote against it. As if forcing the FBI to do something other than snatch brown people off the street is bad.

  • I've always wondered if this sort of tech could scale to 5g towers for mass surveillance purposes
