  • Didn't they March in with victory day parade attire in their backpacks instead of a second round of ammunition, or rations?

Said or unsaid, even if the war was going exactly as planned, it's a shit war that's executed poorly and will destroy the Russian economy and likely end up losing everything they took, even Crimea.

  • I get the initiative to help red states, but democracy also works where if your an asshole shithead who makes sure their state is run by asshole shitheads, then you live in an asshole shithead state.

If blue state voters want their tax dollars educating red states, yay democracy!

If blue states want to spend that money on themselves and watch as Red states become horrible places to live, yay democracy!

The only downside is that federal budgets will continue to help red states. We need someone at the top willing to play the Republicans game and deny red states everything until they come crawling back, or use all those private business tax free profits to replace the shortfall.

  • Gamify

    Jump
  • I feel like his advice is really only applicable if the tasks are received pre-gamified, otherwise it's just the same task with double the work:

    Here's a list of tasks

    but it's boring and tedious

use the content of the list to create a game with structure that ties individually completed tasks to generate automatic, immediate, output/result/gratification

Begin accomplishing gamified list tasks <---- (should be starting here)

    Finish quickly due to gamification.

That whole approach ain't gonna work on someone with ADHD. If it isn't received pre-gamified, I'm not gonna do a bunch of extra work before I can start the actual work.

"The hack to being unable to start a task, is to start an additional, more complicated task" - No

"The best way to get an ADHD brain to quickly accomplish simple task lists is by having accomplishments provide immediate results/rewards" - Yes

  • Isn't this how Walmart failed in Germany?

Basically the "roadmap to success" used in other countries failed in Germany/Europe mostly because that "success" was only achievable through "human rights abuses" and "violating labor laws" that aren't troublesome in parts of the world where labour rights are neutered at every opportunity, and large portions of the population people are too impoverished to afford necessities elsewhere

  • I've wondered about this, killing the "company" never really seemed like that big of a deal, as the structure (both physical building/tool/systems and operationally) don't simply vanish. You still have the knowledge and skillsets in the population, and the supply chains still exist.

The real problem with these "too big to fail" entities is that the people pulling the levers that cause failures never have any consequences whatsoever.

Yeah, you'll always need banks, energy, transportation, defence etc - operational mechanisms for exchanging goods, building, buying etc will never go away or 'fail' - but their operational practices absolutely could and should change

I'm so sick of the wealth class abusing absolutely everything to guarantee themselves more money than they could ever spend.

  • My tinfoil hat theory is that Drones are far better at mass surveillance than current emergency alert systems, so while the advantage over the existing emergency alert system is probably negligible - it opens the door for people accepting having drones everywhere and constantly overhead which is the real goal.

For a second layer of tinfoil, having a strong drone presence (production, infrastructure, technology) in the economy seems like it will be very useful for future wars. Whoever has the largest and smartest swarm wins

  • Cocain isn't calming at all! It tastes horrible, makes my throat go numb and dry which makes me gag, while everyone else seems to be somehow enjoying themselves and wanting more.

I'll be over here smoking my 16th joint of the afternoon while daydreaming of every anime fight scene I've ever seen all at the same, while taking out only half the trash before I start mowing either only the front or back yard while 2 songs simultaneously play in my mind thank you very much

  • Seems pretty weird to me.

Sounds weirdly like projection, or maybe the bigot is just jealous about a father's "access to at least 4 kids around the clock" - which is a super weird take, and likely a confession.

  • This... Brings Joy!

  • Super happy that strong unions in gaming are becoming a thing. Modern games are absolutely massive undertakings, and well made games provide so much more than just a one-off revenue stream that is often ignored by executives as business exists solely for money at the top.

A union made game that's allowed to take the time it needs to be fully cooked will probably be the most popular/best game in the (any) franchise.

Unfortunately it will probably make 10% the money of some Fallout mobile game they churned out over a weekend that lets you buy a gold vault suit that doesn't do anything for $4.99.

I don't have a problem with companies making money off the free to play (and pay to win) model, but it's sad to see them mistreat the IP that generates a dedicated fan base because the only thing that matters is immediate profit - which will hopefully be heavily mitigated by a union.

  • I became a daily lemmy user right around the great beaning, and will always support bean related content!

  • As if America ever learns anything from "clear messages' that are in fact painfully clear and obvious.

  • Not saying there wouldn't be more, but at least two Democrats are Republicans who ran under D and sabotaged several democratic agendas.

It would have been great to have the Democrats tow the party line and pass more meaningful legislation, but corrupt politicians gotta corrupt.

  • Are you suggesting lower cost and some convenience in exchange for incomprehensible risk is somehow a bad deal?

  • Is part of the reason for a big drop off in "big donor money" because of Biden's (sudden) age?

Or are the wealthy just accepting that Trump will make them way wealthier than they already are at the trivial cost of democracy that would only affect the poors anyhow?

Seems like democracy in America is already snuffed out and the wealthy rats are happily trying to get the last good spots on the dictator-ship

  • While I agree with you on how ridiculous everything this person does and believes in, I am not sure how I feel about the "entrapment" part

While I don't know the specifics of the entrapment, anyone getting entrapped by pedophile bait should be exposed.

It's absolutely ridiculous to believe pedophiles only exist in one political camp, especially with mountains of evidence showing anyone with wealth, power, influence, and status (politicians, police, religious leaders, authority figures) are more likely to be pedophiles. It seems that politically, more Republicans than Democrats are convicted pedophiles, but it's certainly not one or the other.

"Hunting pedophiles" rings hollow when you truly believe that anyone who likes the letter R cannot be a pedophile.

  • They do mention the incubation period for Rabies in the article can be up to two years, and they also mention it being found in seals starting in 2021.

You are correct that anyone bit recently may not be able to 100% confirm no transmission, but if no one bitten since 2021 has had Rabies from seal bites its still an accurate assessment.

Especially if people are bitten in (salt) water. Rabies spreads via saliva which is likely going to have a significantly smaller viral load if the bites happen in ocean water (also mentioned as a possible reason for low/no infection)

  • For what it's worth, a government can absolutely subsidized an industry in an attempt to capture a foreign market.

There's a reason Japan and Korea have their own auto industries despite being next door to the largest manufacturing nation on earth, and it isn't because they're somehow making and distributing them for even less than China.

That being said, several automakers have blindfolded themselves about the type of cars people want. I do hope this threat is significant enough that automakers actually shift to mini-electric transportation options.

If not, I'd be happy enough buying a small Chinese electric even if the taxes made it equivalent to a larger "western" vehicle. Because it's what I want to have available to me and it's nice to fuck capitalists with capitalism.

  • The consequence of arresting political opponents?

A lifetime without consequences for your actions.
