    If you have a gun, you can point it at anything and pull the trigger, you don't need the permission of the manufacturer to do so.

    Not with a phone, you CAN'T load any software you want into your phone.

    That's the difference, you can do whatever you want with a gun, and if you mess up, you go to jail. You can't do whatever you want with your phone, only what the corp.s (apple) allow you to.

  • Yeah physics is also not a real science. Newton just made a lot of laws up and everyone decided to go with it (and could even launch satelites with it!), and it has been proven he was wrong in certain scenarios (relativity in speeds near light). /s

    The economy is complicated, people create models to try and describe it, they aren't perfect and don't work for all cases. That doesn't make it a fake science.

    If it is studied with the same rigor that other (social) sciences are, I see no reason to deny it. (And i think it is)

    I was going to say more, but basically, watch those videos (or read their references).

    Good news sells bad, solar energy is being deployed really quickly and accelerating exponentially, solar has a higher return on investment than gas, coal or oil (about 8x as much in developed markets, according to the IEA), nowadays, green energy is the better one for the economy, and the billionaires just want money, so if it is the green energy that has higher returns, they will invest in that.

    Green energy has had 2x as much investment as fossil fuels, and about 80% of that investment is private.

    In september 2024 the UK shut down its last coal powerplant.

    And I forgot the most important! There have been days where energy has a NEGATIVE COST in some places in the world because of renewables, doesn't that sound like a financial incentive to use renewables?

    you could go on for days, there is a lot being done, we just don't know about most of it.

    (No, climate change doesn't show we hit the limit, there is more than one limit, and it shows the limit of carbon emissions, growth doesn't require carbon)

  • What even is "natural"? Aren't humans part of nature? If a wolf kills all white rabbits and rabbits become black thats natural selection, but if a human chooses which animals/plants get to reproduce it isn't? I say its still natural, as is climate change and any other thing human made. (Which doesn't mean it is good and we should continue doing it)

    Bro has not seen a Brazilian sidewalk, there are light posts in the middle of it, and the owners of the buildings are responsible for maintaining it, so every 10 meters there is a giant step and some rough terrain. Brazil has horrible urban planning and walkability, the city hall decision just sounds like carbrain to me. "The sidewalk is small so we will push people indoors" Why is the sidewalk small in the first place?
