  • Nobody is willing to take on the risk to help their neighbors 🤷🏻‍♀️

If I had an empty home that I was paying a mortgage on, I’m not sure the bank or insurance company would be too happy with that either, which doesn’t help.

Some systemic change would be required

  • Both things can be true though. Do you not feel sympathy for anybody who loses out on a passion project or has their “thing” cut short because others aren’t as fortunate? That can be extrapolated about 8 billion ways to the poorest person on earth.

  • I have the same feelings. I’m leaning towards preferring no cameras though. Data is cheap to store and never* gets deleted. Bad actors can comb through that information after the fact and use it for whatever purposes they want, even if it was initially taken/given with good intentions. Walking by a Ring camera now gets a mandatory consent-free facial scanning attempt. These cameras were not initially sold with this being a feature set. Who knows what bullshit they will be used for down the line

  • I’d imagine being underaged and unable to consent makes it rape

  • I need to find a spell scroll of this

  • Costs money to rip and replace existing infrastructure. Counties and cities with less income can’t afford to make such drastic changes unless it’s a higher priority than the other 25 things that need funding

  • For what it’s worth, I wouldn’t be in 3rd gear at 20mph in a modern turbocharged car.

For my car, 20mph is roughly 2500pm in 2nd and 1700rpm in 3rd. I don’t like to live below 2000rpm because I don’t get spooled up that low.

  • I get around this by being unable to read my own writing

  • These calls aren’t necessarily rare, but they aren’t routine if that makes sense.

Avoiding miscommunications and de-escalating tensions is the entire point of these lines.

I remember reading a story about US military leadership contemplating striking a target in Syria a while back. Russians (mercenaries or regular armed forces) were suspected to be operating in the area, but their generals denied presence on this emergency line, so the US bombed away. Russians ended up among the dead, but their leadership denied sponsorship, so this wasn’t necessarily a “US targets and bombs Russians” event which could lead to general warfare.

  • Aluminum with a thin plastic liner. Only glass gets away without any use of plastics, and even they maybe not, as I haven’t seen any bottle caps without some sort of lining lately

  • Sunny has taught me that everything works out if you’re a main character.

  • Sucks that being anything other than straight is a health risk for large segments of the population.

That being said, enabling or fostering that same risk isn’t in their best interest. If they’re unable to be the change they want to see in the world, then who do they expect to stand up for them?

  • That’s right, it goes in the square hole

  • Enjoy it! You could be driving another fun car with a completely boring sounding engine (cough FL5 cough) with almost no good sounding exhausts that aren’t just noise.

  • Can’t imagine many news publications are offering competitive job offers.

Job hunting isn’t that great at the moment

  • Glorious 160x150 resolution

  • The pay ranges from $20 an hour for junior employees to around $38 an hour for senior employees. Add in overtime and some people push $200k per year.

Nobody is really capped at $79k yearly

  • Russia claimed and held territory. Their military leadership doesn’t particularly value human lives in this conflict and hasn’t historically either. I have no doubt that they will continue the course suffering heavy human losses and eventually find some form of victory.

Ukraine needs more people if they want any hope of staving that eventuality off. The Russians have very different ideas of fighting a war of attrition.
