  • I’d honestly sort of be surprised if labour holds onto it. I can’t be the only one who’s been pretty dissatisfied with the minutiae of them running stuff. That better not mean a stint with Dutton though.

  • Why not back up your win 7 installation and try a different Linux variant? Or even just fuck around with Linux in dual boot/vm before transitioning? I’d have to imagine that’d be preferable to either not using the internet or risking every device on the same network it’s connected to. I swear I read an article where fresh win10 installs were getting infected within minutes of connecting to the net. Let alone 7.

  • I personally think self medicating should be strongly discouraged in the community. Obviously, people who are already diagnosed and are dealing with medication shortages is one thing.

People diagnosing themselves is another. I not only understand mods not allowing it but support it. Taking stimulant medication can have a variety of health implications and require monitoring; especially when determining dosage and the proper medication regime. Fostering a sentiment of “I know my body == I have a degree in medicine” shouldn’t be done here (or anywhere imo).

I’ve already seen T mentioned in comparison. Which is a class C drug (2 years in prison). Amphetamines are class B (5 years). That’s just in UK, in Aus it’s a schedule 8 substance (highly controlled drug with serious penalties for possession). Allowing a community to advocate for self medication, especially in a community where our treatment is amphetamine, is just a bad idea and would be a great way to get a real unhealthy community real quick.

  • There’s a channel called Lemmimo that did a pretty interesting documentary on it that explains it. Also explains a lot of the reasoning behind popular conspiracies and why some of them are obvious bunk. Dude is very talented only came across the video a couple days ago due to his music he made for the video.

  • “Shit me radiators smokin’ Oi Elon, grab the jumpers.” Pretty close to a solid concept though.

  • Yeah no. If that was all you managed to get from my reply then it isn’t worth continuing this discussion.

  • Lemmy just allows random bot that are 7 days old to start auto posting on political post as a self declared fact checker?? I’m probably missing a community announcement but what’s to stop me writing a “fact checker” and loading it up with my biases on particular outlets.

Got it the mod rammed it through despite the announcement thread being full of pushback about MBFC. Good stuff.

Bonus galaxy brained mod reply to pushback:

Overwhelmingly negative? Those are the 24/7 negative users. We do anything: Those guys: THIS IS IS A THREAT TO DEMOCRACY So you stand alone in that statement. See the post vote score.

  • You lot

Very interested in who “you lot” refers to when you’ve had a different commenter every reply in this thread.

Do these people who got laid off make the company money or not?

What’s your position here? That labour isn’t exploited and undervalued by the people who profit off it? That if it was, no one ever would be sacked? These companies usually go through phases of hiring talent when they predict they need more labour done (ie when they want to increase profit).

Seems like Bungie haphazardly acquired more talent than it needed, presumably under the assumption that the company would grow indefinitely. It didn’t. So what’s the easiest and shittiest way to bring the company ledger out of the red?? You guessed it, sack them. There’s also a bit of an upset at the idea of paying executives million dollar salaries, then sacking hundreds of actually productive employees.

  • Didn’t the first shot only miss because Trump turned his head? After the first one you’ve got to deal with recoil/nerves.

  • Given your reasoning for doing so has been rebuked by members of the lgbt+ community, I’ll have to decline that correction unfortunately.

  • Yes, and as per the blog the other user linked people have a habit of posting Medium links under the guise of providing supporting information. Given you made a claim “x proves y” you and other people who post Medium links like this probably know “but here’s a link to my blog that is also just my opinion” probably doesn’t hit the same.

  • That’s pretty much what I’m referring to? Pissheads who’ve lost their license to DUI here get done for the same (edit: and driving while disqualified) when they think they’re clever and ride their mower to the pub. Pretty much anything going onto a public road needs to be a registered (and therefore insured) and the operator licensed. I couldn’t imagine non-licensed riders buzzing around city traffic on a slower version of a motorbike.

  • US state that required no licensing or insurance for mopeds

What. The. Fuck. Here you can done for dui on a lawn mower if you’re silly enough to drive it on a public road. Which I’m completely fine with. Having random lunatics ride around on e scooter is dangerous as it is, mopeds is wild.

  • You’d have to ask a physicist. I would be surprised if you couldn’t make other liquids “wet”. The solid analogy helps with conceptualising an interface, one material on another. I suppose you could make water wet, by freezing a block and then splashing said block with water but that doesn’t equate to it being wet itself, if that makes sense.

  • It threw me at first too. Helps to think of it as wetness being an interaction between a liquid and solid. Water makes things wet, it isn’t itself wet.

  • Actually a fair reply but I think my reply is as well given their potential reach. Anyway consider it either way, never hurts to inform ourselves more.

  • It is a logical conclusion to advocating for self diagnosis mate. Given your position within this comm you should seriously consider talking to medical professionals about your view and what they think of it.

  • This is a pretty poor reply from a moderator. The user you're replying to is correct. Not only that, it is staggering that someone who mods a sub of this type is advocating for self diagnosis. Sharing coping mechanisms is one thing but advocating what amounts to circumventing mental health help is frankly irresponsible. I don’t see how anyone could find it even rational to advocate to the potentially mental ill to diagnose themselves.

  • I’m on Voyager here and the gif displays as you’d expect and I can zoom on it as well. I think I was in Boost for a bit but I eventually settled on Voyager for it’s familiarity and features.
