    Because it sounds to me like illegal travel SHOULD be stopped. People immigrating illegally are working for super low wages, increasing supply of labor and therefore lowering demand. It’s bad for workers. I know people say “Americans won’t do those jobs” but that’s because they are paying nothing since they can get highly desperate exploitable people. Labor should be on the side of restricted immigration.

    Note I’m not talking about asylum, but the USA shouldn’t be the only place people go for asylum. It’s my impression that most immigrants are economic anyways.

  • Thanks so much for the reply. I didn’t understand that it’s private; I figured it was just aggregating Zillow and Craigslist postings etc, which are public. If that isn’t the case, then yes I can see how it might be illegal.

  • How is this different than gas stations looking at a price tracking app to set their prices? You know, the apps that show you what gas costs all over town. It’s just information, and they obviously make the choice to raise prices when theirs are low compared to peer competitors.

    That doesn’t mean a gas station doesn’t charge less when it’s in an undesirable location, or charge more when it’s in a busy location. Same is true for housing.

    I know everyone is pissed about the high cost of housing, but this case doesn’t really have merit. It’s not the horse to cheer for.

  • I was making the point that “your car is spying on you” probably isn’t true for a huge section of people, since there are lots of 10-15 year old cars on the road.

    Also, older cars are much more repairable than people consider. We just have a huge economic infrastructure set up around having the “next best thing”.

  • I’d love to go electric but most of the electric vehicles I’ve seen are a) luxury and b) small. Like I want something large that can pull a trailer and haul my kayaks/bikes/skis/tools/etc.

    So an actual SUV (not a small suv like Tesla X) sounds great, but all this luxury shit is a big turnoff for me. It’s going to get beat to hell, and I don’t want to worry about fixing all this electronic shit like pop out door handles. I don’t even want power windows or AC.

    Because if everyone in the world had my lifestyle, we would be emitting an insane amount of carbon. And I don’t want my standard of living to go down, and in fact I want everyone to live as nicely as I do. So clearly we need fewer people.
