That effort is what finally pushed me to the super sketchy-sounding freetaxusa. Its actually been great for the last few years - easier than TurboTax and cheaper
Isn't being "out of control" kind of the point? Right now we have an executive branch with Essential Functions like military, domestic enforcement, ATC, etc. still intact. We have no functioning legislative branch and President rules by executive order unconstrained by the judicial branch. How is this not exactly what a would-be King would want?
Dude sucks for sure, but real talk: I think when the seas rise and the food gets scarce and there's no way we can avoid doing something, the powers that be will resort to some kind of geo-engineering BS. It'll be a coin flip if that kills all of us
I kind of agree with you. I think people aren't seeing that without the subsidies, the 300% price increase is just the actual price. ACA did a lot of good things, but the real insanity is the government subsidizing ACA plans but not directly offering a public option. Frickin Lieberman
We had maybe 3 small groups come by. Very young kids with parents. For our kids, we went to a downtown event where businesses handed out candy. I liked that it was pretty dense with costumes and a down/back loop so we got to see lots of costumes and run into other families we knew. It's definitely changed and moved away from neighborhoods but there's also a feedback loop. Fewer kids, fewer houses passing out candy, fewer kids.
Now I have to figure out what to do with 95% of a Costco candy bag
Wife and I saw the SNAP suspension coming and dug around in our budget to give what we could split between local and state food banks. Feels like barely anything compared to what's needed.
How can we not agree on "no hungry children or seniors"? If not just "no hunger". I guarantee we're net losing money by not feeding our people. How is it that the cruelty is really the point? I can't wrap my head around it
I want to know if the MRI was ordered before or after the "very hard" cognitive test..my grandfather's dementia was diagnosed as due to multiple infarctions and he lived a long time in memory care. Get the 25th ready
Agree on Reagan, of course. Sorry about the SNAP - feeding your citizens (and giving a handout to farmers at the same time) is such a no brainer that it's my go-to when trying to convince folks that Cruelty is the Point with these policies.
Consider your local foodbank. We, and I'm sure others too, see SNAP disappearing and donated what we could split between state and local food banks. I don't know what else we could do right now. Except stock up some more on bulk dry rice and beans
I mean, go ahead? The rat fuckery of the last "primary" has a lot to do with our current administration. I think blame for that rests squarely on Biden and that she would've been a fine president. That said, I'm not sure I'd vote for her in a primary, so I'd much rather she not be anointed by the DNC or major PACs before a fair primary
I don't know, the line between malice and stupidity has become so blurred with these folks - like some really didnt know what they were voting for but that's only because they didn't want to either out of weakness or assholishness. I never really grasped Malicious Stupidity before, nor how many of us were in its throes.
This was the straw that got us to cancel our premium plan. We listen to few enough different albums, that it'd save money to just buy it and figure out jellyfin or something
I get this take and am in the same boat. The thing though is that the people who disapprove with trump is about the same as the number that "strongly disapprove" of trump. We have no more loathing to give.
Righting the ship will require breaking through to the disconnected and mildly red.
And the WH destruction is a) not a traditionally partisan issue, b) strongly symbolic, and c) a powerful visual.
So is it the worst thing he's doing? Not by a mile. Will I be happy if it wakes people up? Vehemently.
The fuck?
