Hey, you can just call me Gyatt if you want. It's meant to be said with enthusiastic emphasis, like "Gyatt!" (ghee-at). You can put a li'l stank on it, too, if you're feeling like it.
I got banned this morning from Public Health@mander.xyz for mentioning that the WHO changed the definition of a vaccine. This is a true fact so its not a conspiracy theory.
Hah, yeah. I heard about the drama over there. I'm surprised Sal hasn't stepped in to do something though, he's usually better about weeding out junk and pseudoscience. Probably severely overworked tbh. It's how a pseudoscience mod slipped in in the first place, he was willing to deal with the workload. You might try pinging sal@mander.xyz directly, he's the instance admin and might be able to take another look. I have reason to believe he'd be sympathetic, though again time constrained.
In fact, if you think your post history would bear scrutiny, you might humbly recommend yourself as a replacement if you've the time to spare and are inclined towards herding cats and breaking up verbal barfights (though I suspect the frequency of such slapfights would be significantly less in a well-moderated public health forum than in general). It's a thankless job, but as you've noticed it's also a very important one.
yeah, people will gang. it seems to be inherent to the structure of this kind of forum. a person speaks their opinion, there's gonna be people who disagree, and the anonymity gives people a feeling of license they do not experience in their 'waking' life. in real life it's easy to look into another person's eyes and feel empathy, remember that they're a human too. here, not even hearing the sound of a voice but only reading an abstraction of thought divorced from instinct and intuition, well... it's a lot harder to remember the human. especially with everyone running around paranoid about bots, free to express opinions they might otherwise feel obligated to repress. and that's before you get into the fact that a lot of people just plain old-fashioned believe goofy stuff. there's a lot to get out of it to be sure or nobody would be here, but it's not all kittens and rainbows. human psychology is just not well adapted to this environment, in my opinion. edit: or perhaps this environment is not well adapted to human psychology?
hey I'm actually of the opinion that the anti-vaccine position is pseudoscience... I accidentally misread you earlier as saying you were ganged up on by anti-vaxx apologists, inferring that you supported vaccination.
I don't hate you, I'm not here to gang up on you, but I feel it's necessary for me to correct that misunderstanding. Sal will have exactly no sympathy with your position.
